Penkių brolių komikų grupės „Marx Brothers“ gerbėjai šį filmą laiko jų prasčiausiuoju. 1949 m. spalio 8 d. savo pirmajame puslapyje, taip pat filmo apžvalgoje tame pačiame numeryje,[3] kino filmų prekybos periodinis leidinys „Harrison's Reports“, niekada nepritariantis jokiems filmams, kuriuose rodomi prekės ženklo produktai, griežtai kritikavo šį filmą dėl jame vaizduojamų gaudynių ant stogo tarp reklaminių stendų, reklamuojančių „Baby Ruth“, „General Electric“, „Fisk Tires“, „Bulova“ laikrodžius, „Kool“ cigaretes, „Wheaties“ ir „Mobil“ benziną.

Vėlesniais metais, kalbėdamas apie puikų įspūdį, kurį padarė Marilyn Monroe filmo perklausų (bandymų) metu, televizijos laidoje „Today“ Groucho šį filmą pavadino siaubingu.[4]
