네게브 사막

네게브 사막에는 와디의 침식으로 깊은 골짜기가 형성된 곳이 많다.

네게브 사막(Negev,Hebrew: הַנֶּגֶב, )은 이스라엘 동남부의 사막과 준사막 지역이다. 면적은 1만 3000㎢ 정도로 이스라엘 땅의 절반 이상을 차지하고 있다. 사막 지역의 특성상 거주 인구는 매우 적으며, 중앙 네게브 고원지대는 건조하기 때문에 주로 유목 민족인 베두인들이 거주하고 있다. .

관개 농업

1960년 초에 네게브 사막에 관개 사업을 시작하여 1964년 첨단 기술을 사용하여 요단강 물을 끌어들이기 시작 한 후 프로제트 2000에 의해 네게브 사막을 12개 지역으로 나누어 대대적인 개발을 하였다. 갈릴리 호수에서 350Km의 송수관을 연결하여 네게브사막을 옥토로 만들었다. 이렇게 함으로 3모작까지 가능하게 됨에 따라 사과, 바나나, 포도, 석류, 무화과, 오렌지 등 유실수를 심고 가꾸고, 꽃들을 가꾸어 유럽 등 지역에 수출까지 하게 되었다.[1]
