Жақан Уәлишерұлы Аханов (12.1.1936 жылы туған, Қызылорда облысы Жаңақорған ауданы) — ғалым, биология ғылым докторы (1981), профессор (1988), Қазақстан Ғылым Академиясының корриспондентінің-мүшесі (1989), Қазақстан Мемлекеттік университетті бітірген (1960). 1960 — 1984 жылы Топырақтану институтынының кіші ғылым қызметкері, ғылыми хатшысы, бөлім меңгерушісі, директордың орынбасары қызметтерін атқарды. 1984 — 1995 жылы осы институттың директоры, 1994 — 1997 жылы Қазақстан Республикасы Ғылым Академиясының биология ғылымдары бөлімінің академия-хатшысы болды. 1997 жылдан Ғылым Министірлігі — Ғылым Академиясының Топырақтану институтынының директоры. Аханов Қазақстандағы топырақты суландырудың ғылым негізін жасаушылардың бірі. Ғылым еңбектері сортаң топырақты суландыру, топырақ генетикасы, топырақтың техногендік ластануы және экология салдарынан бұзылған топырақты қалпына келтіру мәселелерін зерттеуге арналған. Сондай-ақ ол топырақ құнарлығын арттырудың жаңа тұжырымдамасын ұсынған. Қазақстан Мемл. сыйл-ның лауреаты (1984).[1][2]
