ブローディア亜科 Brodiaeoideae はキジカクシ科の亜科の一つ。かつてはテミス科 Themidaceae として分離されていた^[1]。北米西部のブリティッシュコロンビア州から、中米のグアテマラまでに自生する^[2]。

分子系統解析によって本亜科の単系統性は強く支持されており、おそらくツルボ亜科の姉妹群となる^[3]。現在の分類では12属程度が認識されているが^[4]、いくつかの属の単系統性は疑わしい^[5]。Triteleia（15種）、Brodiaea（14種）の2属が主要な属となっている^[6]。9属が栽培化されているが、前記の2属が主に育てられる^[7]。

形態

多年生の草本で、澱粉質の球茎から成長する。毎年、古い球茎から新しい球茎が発生する。葉は線形で、肉質であることも多い。基部は鞘状になる。葉脈は平行脈である。通常は散形花序をつけるが、花茎の頂点に単独で花をつけるものもある。花は両性花で放射相称。花被片は同形で、3枚ずつ2列に並ぶ。雄蘂は6本、または3本の雄蘂と3本の仮雄蘂が交互にある。葯は内向で底着。子房は上位で、3室に分かれる。果実は胞背裂開の朔果である。種子は黒い層 (phytomelan) に覆われる^[4][8]。

歴史

19-20世紀の大部分において、このグループはBrodiaeeae 連として認識されており、ユリ科・ネギ科・ヒガンバナ科などに位置づけられていた。1985年のダールグレン体系では、ネギ科に含められた^[9]。

20世紀の終わりに、ユリ科の中で異質な形態を持つグループが多系統群であることが示され、Brodiaea 属はネギ属やヒガンバナ属よりクサスギカズラ属に近縁だと考えられるようになった。このため1996年には、1866年にRichard Salisburyが提唱したテミス科 Themidaceaeが復帰された^[10][11]。この科名はThemis 属に由来する。この属は唯一の種Themis ixioides を含んでいたが、1879年にSereno Watsonによりこの種がBrodiaea 属に移動されたことで、属名としては使用されなくなっている^[12]。その後1886年に、この種はEdward Lee Greeneにより Triteleia 属に移動されており、現在の学名はTriteleia ixioides となっている^[13]。

APG IIまで、テミス科はキジカクシ目の1科とされていたが、キジカクシ科に含めてもよいとされていた。APG IIIではブローディア亜科 Brodiaeoideaeとしてキジカクシ科に含められた^[1]。
