  • The Reader Experience team has developed a patch demo that wraps the page toolbar onto two lines when there is not enough horizontal space for all the buttons. This aims to reduce crowding in the Vector 2022 toolbar, which can occur on some language Wikipedias at certain screen widths. [1]
  • The Reader Experience team is planning to launch Reading Lists, a Community Wishlist item, which is currently available to try in beta, as a full feature in September. Updates for editors

  • Revise Tone helps newcomers identify passages in Wikipedia articles that may contain non-encyclopedic language and encourages them to consider revising the tone. The feature was A/B tested on the Arabic, English, French, and Portuguese Wikipedias, where newcomer task completion rates increased by 38.7% compared to the default Copyedit task, with no decrease in edit quality. The test ended on July 9, and the feature is now available for everyone on these wikis, configurable via Community Configuration. The plan is to release Revise Tone to more wikis.
  • The community configuration that allows automatic removal of inactive mentors based on configurable criteria will be enabled on Thursday 16, on some wikis to keep mentor lists up to date. Mentors are experienced contributors who opt in to help new users on-wiki through the Growth Features. Administrators can now prepare the settings via Special:CommunityConfiguration/Mentorship; they will take effect starting Thursday.
  • Recurrent item View all 38 community-submitted tasks that were resolved last week. For example, an issue where some users of the Wikipedia Android app were logged out immediately after signing in, preventing them from staying logged in and editing pages, has now been fixed. [6]

  • To work around a Safari bug (see phab:T425211), on Parsoid-enabled wikis, wikilink hrefs now use absolute urls instead of protocol-relative urls. REST API output remains unchanged and continue to use protocol-relative urls. Gadgets, user scripts, bots, and CSS might need to be adapted if they relied on the presence of protocol-relative urls in wikilink hrefs. [8]

Ciao, sono un utente di Wikipedia da qualche anno, e temendo che finisca con lo sparire, "fagocitata" dall'AI, mi e' venuto in mente: secondo voi sarebbe utile/possibile intergare in Wikipedia uno strumento di ricerca potenziato tramite AI? Questo farebbe in modo che un utente che cerca qualcosa si trovi un riassunto di quello che cerca estratto dall'AI unicamente da pagine wikipedia, il che andrebbe, nelle intenzioni, a fornire una risposta alla sua domanda senza "farlo uscire" da wikipedia, e fornendogli la possibilita' di espandere la sua ricerca tramite link o rimandi ad altre pagine collegate. Non sono uno sviluppatore, quindi perdonatemi se l'idea e' troppo utopistica, nel caso mi scuso ma volevo comunque condividerla, grazie! --Fra Casa (msg) 11:04, 16 lug 2026 (CEST)Rispondi

Il punto pero' sarebbe avere un motore di ricerca AI interno a Wikipedia, per evitare che venga "cannibalizzata" ed usata solo come una fra le tanti fonti AI (il che secondo me spinge l'utente ad evitare direttamente di accedere a Wikipedia, e a fidarsi solo della risposta data dall'AI) --Fra Casa (msg) 15:33, 19 lug 2026 (CEST)Rispondi

Pulsanti barra modifica non funzionanti

La barra con i pulsanti per accendere e spegnere wikEd

Buondì, da poco più di una settimana, una parte dei pulsanti della barra di modifica non funzionano se ho attivo anche il Aiuto:Accessori/WikEd (sì ormai sarò l'unico ad usarlo ancora). Quando clicco su questi pulsanti non accade nulla; se lo spengo nell'editor (con l'apposita casella, a destra) tornano a funzionare regolarmente. In particolare Firma non funziona ed inserimento immagini apre il popup, ma poi quando clicco inserisci non fa nulla.

Faccio notare un comportamento che non è un problema ma dà contesto: Quando si attiva il WikEd dovrebbe andare in sostituzione della barra classica, farla scomparire, ma è da diversi anni che invece si attiva sopra o sotto a questa, ma la cosa non ha mai dato problemi. In generale molti dei tasti non funzionanti sono presenti anche nella barra del WikEd, però ad esempio la firma di quest'ultimo non ha i due -- e quindi è più comodo usare quella della barra tradizionale, che però con gli ultimi aggiornamenti ha smesso di funzionare in sovrapposizione.

Buongiorno, da due giorni, quando si prova a modificare qualsiasi spartito in Lilypond, appare questo messaggio di errore.   • The Reader Experience team has incorporated community feedback around the placement of watchstar and watchlist buttons for the Reading Lists beta feature, which would allow for saving articles for later reading – a wishlist item to bring the functionality to web. Editors are invited to enable the beta feature to test it out and share their thoughts.
  • Suggestion Mode offers edit suggestions within the VisualEditor for improving Wikipedia articles. All suggestions are community-configurable. The TextMatch feature is a way for volunteers to create custom local suggestions. The feature searches in articles for strings of text, and now includes support for regular expressions. This gives volunteers greater precision and flexibility over the kinds of local suggestions they can create. Note: Suggestions can be targeted based on the edit count of the person editing as well as other aspects of the page. You can find examples from other communities for inspiration, including TextMatches that detect: typos, grammar-errors, potential advertisements, clichés, incorrect dash or hyphen usage, non-specific time keywords, outdated names, and more. Any feedback is appreciated.
  • Recurrent item View all 27 community-submitted tasks that were resolved last week. For example, an issue where the SVG Translate tool could use an outdated version of a file, causing existing translations to be overwritten when new ones were uploaded, has now been fixed. Overall, in the last quarter from April – June 2026 about 337 community tasks were resolved by the Wikimedia Foundation.

  • On Parsoid-enabled wikis, Parsoid now renders a maximum of 1,250 images per page. A new tracking category, "media-limit-reached", will be soon made available to identify pages where this limit is reached, making it easier to find content whose media output may have been restricted during rendering. come indicato dal bollettino tecnico qui sopra, è stata aggiunta una nuova funzionalità ai controlli di modifica (la pagina è di recente creazione e ancora WIP). grazie alla funzionalità TextMatch è possibile fornire suggerimenti puntuali basati sul (wiki)testo della voce. ispirandomi agli esempi mi viene in mente di coprire i seguenti casi:

+1 per le proposte. Per gli errori ortografici si può prendere spunto da Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Typos. Peccato che gli edit check non si possano restringere a dei gruppi di voci (o almeno non mi pare) o avremmo potuto affiancare alcuni filtri, ad esempio il 623. Altri filtri pubblici che usiamo per avvisare o impedire errori comuni: 559 "Wikilink esterni a it.wiki", 262 "Localismo". per ora ho aggiungo quello dei riferimenti temporali, per fare la prova basta (dopo aver abilitato la modalità suggerimento nelle preferenze) inserire un "Recentemente" nel Visual Editor e subito compare il popup che fa notare il problema. il testo è rielaborato dalla pagina di aiuto, se qualcuno ha idee su come renderlo più conciso ed efficace, si può sempre modificare :) --valepert 18:40, 26 lug 2026 (CEST)Rispondi
ho inserito delle primissime versioni di regole per i falsi amici e per gli errori comuni. per quest'ultimi ho tolto (oltre il check sulle virgolette) l'eventuale controllo se presente il template {{sic}} (purtroppo credo che funzioni a livello di voce, ma ha senso che trovando una occorrenza del template lasci libero all'utente di valutare se è il caso di correggere o meno). probabilmente i prossimi aggiornamenti li comunicherò nella pagina di discussione della funzionalità in modo che non si perdano nell'archivio dell'officina. --valepert 19:00, 27 lug 2026 (CEST)Rispondi

  • DiscussionTools' source mode and the 2017 wikitext editor will now offer autocomplete for links ([[), templates ({{), HTML and parser tags (<), and magic words (__), making it quicker and easier to insert links, templates, and other wiki markup while editing. [10]
  • The Readers Growth team has concluded its experiment with mobile page previews and will not roll out the feature. Page Previews are a pop-up bottom sheet that appears when readers tap a blue link, showing a thumbnail, lead paragraph, and an option to open the article. The experiment showed flat retention and negative indicator metrics, suggesting that mobile web readers preferred navigating directly to linked articles rather than using page previews.
  • The Reader Experience team has seen encouraging early results from the Reading Lists feature, with 93% of participating users reporting that it was useful. Reading Lists help active readers save articles for future reading and support their learning goals on Wikimedia projects. The team plans further improvements before expanding the feature to more users.
  • The Explore Feed Refresh initiative was tested with new and casual Wikipedia app readers. The refreshed feed helps readers discover new and relevant content. Quando si avvia una revisione di un blocco cliccando il link nella talk dell'utente, in automatico si crea anche il link alla pagina di discussione appena creata, ma il sistema tende a fare un errore, spezzando l'ultima parola del commento dell'utente che ha chiesto la revisione. Visualizzazione template doppia immagine da cellulare

Ho riscontrato problemi di visualizzazione da cellulare per quanto riguarda il Template:Doppia immagine. Per risolvere il problema di impaginazione da dispositivi mobili ho sviluppato il codice seguente: Template:Doppia immagine/Sandbox e il relativo Template:Doppia immagine/sandbox/styles.css (da pubblicare in Template:Doppia immagine/styles.css). Errore modalità scura in Distribuzione normale

Gli assi e scritte dei grafici che spiegano la distribuzione rimangono di colore nero e quindi non si vedono bene con il colore scuro.

Ciao, ho notato una disomogeneità nei messaggi di sistema: su MediaWiki:Shortpages c'è scritto "Voci più corte", invece su MediaWiki:Longpages c'è scritto "Pagine più lunghe". Propongo quindi di fare come su Wikiquote, creando quindi MediaWiki:Longpages con questo testo "Voci più lunghe" perché in quella pagina speciale sono incluse solo le pagine del namespace principale.--۩ ÀNCILU ۩✉ 23:22, 2 ago 2026 (CEST)Rispondi
PS la modifica dev'essere fatta localmente e non su TranslateWiki perché "voci" si applica solo in pochi contesti, già andando su progetti come Wiktionary, il termine non ha più senso.

cosa c'entra il progetto coordinamento? più che altro dalla discussione antica mi sembra che non ci sia specificato da nessuna parte quali pagine speciali producono solo risultati nel namespace principale e quali si applicano a tutti i namespace (es. Mi pare che in effetti sia limitato al ns0 (v. MediaWiki, sorgente che estende SpecialShortPages -> getContentNamespaces()), penso che dovremmo ripristinarlo. Per chi sa Lua, segnalo possibile attività che permetterebbe di evitare centinaia di migliaia di edit inutili, sostanzialmente automatizzando il vecchissimo parametro "temperatura" di questo template e che usa una astrusa formula matematica ereditata dal 2013, e forse ben prima, 2006:

Ciao officina :) se qualche persona si lamenta di comportamenti strani di gadget o bot, soprattutto in situazioni in cui serve sapere quali pagine sono in una categoria, è probabilmente colpa della versione MediaWiki in oggetto. Lancio un'idea: la funzione "rispondi" nelle discussioni da mobile indenta sempre a destra, ma dopo un po' la discussione spalmata a destra dello schermo diventa illeggibile. Ciao, avrei necessità di un aiuto tecnico per rendere operativo quanto deciso qualche mese fa al DP:Comuni italiani in merito alla scelta di mostrare nel sinottico dei comuni italiani, come bandiera, il solo gonfalone.

In pratica, come si è deciso in quella sede, per i soli comuni italiani, la bandiera da mostrare nel templare dovrebbe essere:

  • se il campo è valorizzato manualmente: l'immagine indicata manualmente (da usarsi per casi eccezionali o per immagini in EDP)
  • se non è valorizzato il campo, deve prendere da Wikidata il file della proprietà "bandiera" (P41) ma solo se presente ruolo "gonfalone" (Q1537106) (così facendo esclude le bandiere che non sono gonfaloni). In questo secondo caso, se possibile, sarebbe buona cosa impostare automaticamente il bordo bandiera=no, perché i gonfaloni sono rappresentati con anche la struttura di sostegno del drappo, per cui il bordo non sta bene.

Ringrazio se qualche esperto potrà occuparsi di questa modifica (è troppo tecnica per le mie competenze e non voglio far danni :P). Se avete bisogno chiedetemi pure! P.S.
