SN 1990U è stata una supernova di tipo Ic nel nucleo della galassia NGC 7479. È stata scoperta il 27 luglio 1990 dalla Berkeley Automated Supernova Search[1] dopo aver raggiunto una magnitudine 16±0,5.[2] Inizialmente è stata classificata come una supernova di tipo Ib, ma la debolezza delle linee di assorbimento dell'elio neutro ha portato a una riclassificazione.[3][4]
