Storia

La regione fu governata da un re (Malik) di nome Amir Suri quando ancora la popolazione non era convertita all'Islam.[1]

«Suo figlio Mohammad, che fu attaccato da Maḥmūd di Ghazna, come scritto nel Rawẓat al-Ṣafā di Mīr Khvānd, era ancora un pagano a dispetto del nome islamico, e al-ʿUtbī lo definisce un indù. Maḥmūd distrusse le sue roccaforti nell'anno 400 del calendario islamico (1009) e ridusse il suo capo in schiavitù, prima di avvelenarlo di persona, a quanto si dice.

Suo figlio Abū ʿAlī fu elevato alla dignità del padre da Maḥmūd, certamente perché aveva abbracciato l'Islam, tanto che si dice che avesse fatto edificare delle moschee. Nondimeno fu fatto incarcerare da suo nipote ʿAbbās, dopo che Masʿūd era succeduto sul trono di Ghazna [1]»
