Silíkon eru tilbúnar fjölliður þar sem kísilfrumeindir og súrefnisfrumeindir koma á víxl, kolefni og önnur efni eru oft tengd við. Silíkon eru vanalega gúmmíkennd eða vökvakennd, þola hita vel og eru notuð til þéttingar og sem einangrunarefni fyrir hita og rafmagn. Þau eru líka notuð sem lím, sem smurolía, og í gerð ýmissa eldhúsáhalda svo sem spaða.
