62 ára Gregoire.

Gregoire (um 1942 – 17. desember 2008) var lengi elsti simpansi sem vitað var um í Afríku. Síðustu ellefu ár ævi sinnar bjó hann á Tchimpounga-verndarsvæðinu sem er rekið af Jane Goodall-stofnuninni í Lýðveldinu Kongó. Lífsförunautur hans var simpansinn Clara. Áður en hann hitti Clöru var hann aleinn í búri í 40 ár í dýragarði í Brazzaville, en var síðar bjargað af starfsmönnum Jane Goodall-stofnunarinnar.

Andlát

Gregoire dó í svefni í rúminu sínu sem var búið til úr laufum tröllatrés á verndarsvæðinu 17. desember 2008 þá 66 ára gamall.[1] Gregoire var þekktur um allan heim sem aldraður simpansi. Mynd hans birtist á forsíðu National Geographic-tímaritsins árið 1995, og hann kom fram í BBC-þætti og Animal Planet-kvikmyndinni Jane Goodall's Return to Gombe.
