Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew (bahasa Thai: วัดป่ามหาเจดีย์แก้ว; RTGS: Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaeo, secara harfiah berarti Kuil Hutan Belantara Pagoda Kaca Besar), juga dikenal sebagai Kuil Sejuta Botol, adalah kuil Buddha di distrik Khun Han Provinsi Sisaket, Thailand. Kuil ini dibangun menggunakan lebih dari 1,5 juta botol kosong Heineken dan botol bir Chang. Pengumpulan botol dimulai pada tahun 1984, butuh waktu dua tahun untuk membangun kuil utama. Setelah itu, para biarawan terus memperluas situs tersebut. Pada tahun 2009, sekitar 20 bangunan telah dibangun dengan memanfaatkan sampah botol.

Sejarah

Menurut kisah yang beredar, biksu Buddha setempat sedang mencari cara untuk mengurangi pembuangan limbah dan membantu daerah setempat menjalani gaya hidup yang lebih hijau. Kegiatan ini awalnya dilakukan dengan pengumpulan botol bir kaca. Kemudian diputuskan bahwa botol-botol tersebut dapat digunakan sebagai bahan konstruksi.[1] Para biarawan di kuil ini sekarang terus membangun menggunakan botol untuk mengurangi emisi karbon dioksida dan menjaga botol agar tidak dibuang begitu saja ke tempat pembuangan sampah.[2]
