Red Velvet - Irene & Seulgi (Hangul: 레드벨벳-아이린&슬기; ditulis Red Velvet - IRENE & SEULGI), atau juga dikenal dengan nama Irene & Seulgi, adalah subunit resmi pertama dari grup musik Korea Selatan, Red Velvet. Dibentuk oleh SM Entertainment pada tahun 2020, grup ini terdiri dari dua anggota Red Velvet: Irene dan Seulgi. Album mini debut mereka, Monster, dirilis pada tanggal 6 Juli 2020.[1]

Perjalanan karier

2020: Pembentukan dan debut

Sebelum debut bersama Red Velvet, Irene dan Seulgi pernah merilis video koreografi lagu "Be Natural" pada Juli 2014 sebagai bagian dari SM Rookies.[2] Pada tanggal 21 April 2020, SM Entertainment mengumumkan bahwa Irene dan Seulgi akan membentuk subunit resmi pertama Red Velvet sejak debut pada Agustus 2014.[3] Meskipun telah diumumkan bahwa Irene & Selugi akan merilis album mini debut mereka tanggal 15 Juni,[4] tanggal rilis album tersebut diundur menjadi tanggal 6 Juli dengan alasan karena SM Entertainment menilai bahwa album tersebut memerlukan produksi tambahan untuk mencapai kualitas musik yang lebih tinggi.[5]

Pada tanggal 6 Juli 2020, Irene & Seulgi akhirnya merilis album mini debut mereka, Monster, yang berisi enam lagu termasuk singel utama yang berjudul sama.[1] Video musik lagu tersebut awalnya dijadwalkan dirilis secara bersamaan dengan lagu tersebut, tetapi akhirnya ditunda dan dirilis pada tanggal 7 Juli.[6] Video musik tersebut menjadi video musik subunit grup musik Korea Selatan yang paling banyak ditonton dalam kurun waktu 24 jam pertama dengan lebih dari 11 juta penayangan dalam 24 jam setelah dirilis, mengalahkan video musik "Lil Touch" karya subunit Girls' Generation, Oh!GG.[7]
