Pulau Bras adalah pulau terluar Indonesia yang terletak di Samudra Pasifik dan berbatasan dengan negara Palau. Pulau Bras ini merupakan bagian dari wilayah pemerintah Kabupaten Supiori, provinsi Papua.[1] Pulau ini berada di sebelah utara dari Kota Manokwari dengan koordinat 0° 55′57″ LU, 134° 20′30″ BT.

Pulau Bras merupakan gugusan dari Kepulauan Mapia yang berbatasan dengan Republik Palau. Jarak antara Pulau Bras dengan Pulau Babelthuap (Republik Palau) adalah sejauh 390 mil. Gugusan Kepulauan Mapia terdiri dari 5 buah pulau, yaitu Mapia atau Pegun, Bras atau Berasi, Bras Kecil, Fanildo atau Faniroto dan Fanildo Kecil. Wilayah gugusan pulau ini dijaga oleh satuan TNI yang memiliki pos di Pulau Mapia. Pulau Bras termasuk dalam wilayah administrasi Distrik Supiori Barat, Kabupaten Supiori, Provinsi Papua. Tingginya keanekaragaman diota laut dan masih terpeliharanya ekosistem yang ada di Kepulauan Mapia memberikan peluang pengembangan industri wisata baik wisata alam, budaya dan peninggalan sejarah Perang Dunia II.

Status pulau

Pada 2 Maret 2017, Presiden Joko Widodo menetapkan Pulau Bras sebagai bagian dari 111 pulau kecil yang berstatus pulau-pulau kecil terluar. Dasar hukum penetapan ini adalah Keputusan Presiden Nomor 6 Tahun 2017 tentang Penetapan Pulau-Pulau Kecil Terluar.[2]

Aksesibilitas

Akses menuju Pulau Bras dapat ditempuh melalui jalur laut. Terdapat dua kapal perintis yang melayani transportasi laut menuju Pulau Bras dari Kota Biak. Adapun waktu tempuhnya mencapai 25 jam. Alternatif lain yang dapat digunakan adalah dengan menyewa perahu cepat.[3]
