Pewarta Borneo

Pewarta Borneo merupakan salah satu koran tertua yang terbit di Banjarmasin. Menurut sejumlah sumber, koran ini didirikan pada 1901 dan menggunakan bahasa Melayu. Namun, pelacakan sumber autentik hanya menemukan Pewarta Borneo edisi tahun VU 1938. Pada tahun itu, kantor redaksinya tercatat beralamat di Mahakamstraad, Samarinda. Pemimpin umum sekaligus pemimpin redaksinya adalah Lim Ek Thoen dibantu Saroehoem.[1]

Pembaca di Indonesia bisa mendapatkan surat kabar ini dengan harga f1 per bulan. Adapun pembaca di luar negeri bisa mendapatkannya dengan harga f4,5 per kwartal.[1]

Pewarta Borneo menampilkan berita-berita luar negeri. Hal ini merupakan upaya dari redaksi koran tersebut untuk memajukan masyarakat dengan cara menyediakan bahan belajar dari peristiwa-peristiwa di luar negeri. Pada edisi 4 Januari-31 Mei 1938, misalnya, koran ini menyiarkan tentang Perang Tiongkok-Jepang.[1]

Selain berita luar negeri, Pewarta Borneo juga menyajikan beritfa lokal dan nasional. Koran ini menyiarkan tentang perkembangan Volksraad. Bahkan, Pewarta Borneo juga menyajikan ruang tersendiri terkait pertumbuhan perkumpulan di Borneo. Tak ayal, koran ini menjadi media memo bagi jalannya pergerakan kebangsaan lewat perkumpulan.[1]
