Maggie Gobran pada 2019

Maggie Gobran atau Mama Maggie, seorang puan Ortodoks Koptik, adalah pendiri dan CEO yayasan nirlaba Stephen's Children di Kairo, Mesir. Ia juga merupakan profesor ilmu komputer di American University in Cairo, telah menikah dengan seorang profesor yang mengajar di salah satu universitas terbaik yang ada di mesir dan memiliki seorang putra dan seorang putri.[1][2] Ia dinominasikan untuk Nobel Perdamaian tahun 2012.[3]

Maggie Gobran, yang sering dijuluki Bunda Teresa dari Kairo, adalah seorang puan Kristen Koptik yang sempat hidup dalam keadaan miskin dan penderitaan,[4] selain mengalami penindasan sebagai penganut Kristen di Mesir. Pada 1989, ia menjalani karier akademik untuk menjadi pelayan tahbisan Kristen Ortodoks Koptik dan membentuk yayasan Stephen's Children, yang memiliki tujuan menunjang kehidupan anak-anak Kristen dan keluarga yang tinggal di pemukiman kumuh Kairo dan masyarakat miskin di pedesaan Mesir Hulu. Ia juga memberikan bantuan kepada anak-anak Muslim dan Bahá'í yang miskin.[5][6]

Pada 2019, ia dianugerahi International Women of Courage Award oleh Department of United States dan Ibu Negara Amerika Serikat Melania Trump.[7] Pada 2020, namanya juga masuk ke dalam daftar perempuan berpengaruh 100 Women (BBC) yang diumumkan pada 23 November 2020.[8]
