Bibisan ( Ostorhinchus aureus ) adalah spesies ikan yang tersebar luas dalam famili Apogonidae yang ditemukan di Laut Merah dan lepas Afrika Timur hingga Papua Nugini, utara hingga Jepang, dan selatan hingga Australia .

Keterangan

Ikan ini berwarna tembaga dengan garis kehitaman yang lebar di pangkal ekor, hingga 14,5 panjangnya cm. Rahang atas memiliki guratan biru sempit, dan guratan lebar kehitaman memanjang dari depan moncong hingga ke mata .

Secara internal, O. aureus adalah salah satu dari kelompok besar ikan pemakan nokturnal yang memiliki lapisan usus berpigmen hitam, tampaknya untuk menyembunyikan cahaya mangsa bioluminescent dari piscivora sendiri secara bergantian. Mata O. aureus memungkinkan transmisi sinar ultraviolet, yang jika terbukti dapat melihat, dapat bermanfaat untuk mencari makan di malam hari.
