Kronologi Musim

American Idol Musim Kesebelas pertamakali ditayangkan di Fox pada hari Minggu, 22 Januari 2012 setelah acara 2011–12 NFL playoffs. Acara ini mengudara pada hari Rabu dan Kamis pada pukul 8:00 malam/7:00 CST.^[1] Di Asia, acara ini ditayangkan oleh STAR World setiap hari Kamis dan Jumat pukul 5.00 malam WIB (Siaran LIVE) dan 7.00 malam WIB (Siaran ulang).

Pada tanggal 23 Mei 2012, Phillip Phillips menjadi pemenang musim kesebelas dari American Idol. Jessica Sanchez secara otomatis menjadi runner-up.

Juri dan presenter

Ryan Seacrest telah dikonfirmasi untuk kembali sebagai pembawa acara.^[2] Pada tanggal 29 Juni 2011, Fox Broadcasting Company mengkonfirmasi bahwa Randy Jackson dan Steven Tyler telah mengkonfirmasi akan kembali sebagai juri pada Idol musim kesebelas.^[3] Hal itu dikonfirmasi pada tanggal 10 Agustus 2011, bahwa Jennifer Lopez juga akan kembali sebagai juri untuk musim kesebelas, Bersamaan dengan Tyler & Jackson dan Ryan Seacrest akan kembali sebagai presenter.^[4]

Saat 42 kontestan yang tersisa menyanyikan solo yang terakhir mereka di hotel Wynn Las Vegas, mereka segera dipanggil satu per satu untuk mendengar penjurian terakhir dimana juri harus memutuskan apakah mereka berhasil atau tidak masuk ke Top 24. 14 semifinalis pertama diumumkan pada episode 22 Februari.^[23] 10 kontestan lainnya diumumkan pada episode 23 Februari.
