רוי דוטריס (באנגלית: Roy Dotrice; ‏26 במאי 1923 - 16 באוקטובר 2017) היה שחקן תיאטרון ושחקן קולנוע וטלוויזיה בריטי וקריין של ספרי שמע.

תולדות חייו

נולד באי גרנזי, אחד מאיי התעלה. במלחמת העולם השנייה שירת בחיל האוויר המלכותי ונפל בשבי הגרמני. בין השנים 1942–1945 שהה במחנה שבויים. עם שובו הופיע בהצגה בחסות הצלב האדום בשם "Back Home" ("חזרה הביתה"), שכל שחקניו היו שבויי מלחמה לשעבר.

ב-1947 נשא לאשה את השחקנית קיי ניומן, לה היה נשוי עד מותה ב-2007. רוי הוא גם אביהן של השחקניות מישל (נולדה ב-27 בספטמבר 1948), קארן (נולדה ב-9 בנובמבר 1955), ואיבט (נולדה ב-1960), שהלכו בעקבותיו. ב-1967 החל להופיע בהצגת יחיד בשם "Brief Lives", על פי סיפורים ביוגרפיים קצרים מאת ג'ון אוברי (John Aubrey). כל הצגה נמשכה כשעתיים ומחצה במהלכן נכח דוטריס על הבמה, כולל בזמן ההפסקה, בה דימה עצמו לשקוע בשינה. המחזה הועלה הן בווסט אנד בלונדון והן בברודוויי. דוטריס נכנס לספר השיאים של גינס לאחר שסיים 1,782 הופעות יחיד, המספר הגדול ביותר של הופעות יחיד של שחקן כלשהו. ההצגה שבה והועלתה ב-2008 בהשתתפותו של דוטריס ורצה בהפסקות עד ינואר 2010‏[1]. בשנת 1981 היה דוטריס מועמד לפרס טוני על תפקידו במחזה "A Life", הוא זכה בפרס ב-2001 על תפקידו במחזה "A Moon for the Misbegotten".

בשנות השבעים ושנות השמונים הופיע במספר סדרות טלוויזיה, בהן "דיקנס של לונדון" בתפקיד דיקנס, בסדרת הטלוויזיה "היפה והחיה" (בעריכת ג'ורג' ר. ר. מרטין) בתפקיד האב ובסדרה "Misleading Cases" לפי ספרו של א. פ. הרברט. ב-1984 הופיע בסרט הקולנוע זוכה פרס האוסקר "אמדאוס" בתפקיד לאופולד מוצרט (אביו של וולפגנג אמדאוס מוצרט).

משנת 1982 החל להקריא ספרות במסגרת תוכניות רדיו 4 של ה-BBC ובמסגרת ספרי שמע. בין היתר שימש קריין ספרי השמע של סדרת שיר של אש ושל קרח מאת ג'ורג' ר. ר. מרטין, במסגרתה גילם בקולו כ-500 דמויות שונות. הוא אף נבחר לגלם את דמותו של המלומד העליון פייסל בסדרת הטלוויזיה של HBO, "משחקי הכס" שנעשתה לפי הספרים, אך הוחלף בשל סיבות רפואיות[2]. עם זאת, בעונה השנייה גילם את תפקידו של האלין, ראש גילדת האלכימאים[3].

בשנת 2008 נבחר לקצין מסדר האימפריה הבריטית.

הוא נפטר בלונדון, ב-16 באוקטובר 2017, בגיל 94.
