Thought I Knew You (בעברית: חשבתי שהכרתי אותך) הוא שיר שהוקלט על ידי הראפרית הטרינידדית ניקי מינאז', בשיתוף הזמר הקנדי דה ויקנד, מתוך אלבום האולפן הרביעי שלה, Queen.

רקע וכתיבה

השיר נכתב על ידי ניקי מינאז', דה ויקנד, בלי, ג'יי רייד וסטארה, והופק על ידי ג'יי רייד. השיר הוא בסגנון הרית'ם אנד בלוז, ומשלב בתוכו גם אלמנטים של טראפ ומוזיקת פופ.[2] בשיר, מדברים מינאז' ודה ויקנד על מערכת יחסים וכאב לב, לאחר שזוגם, כביכול, לא היה נאמן עבורם.[3] על פי מבקרי המוזיקה שסקרו את השיר, דה ויקנד אף מתמקד בזוגיות עם בנות זוגו לשעבר, הזמרת סלינה גומז, והדוגמנית בלה חדיד.[4][5][6] השיר הוא שיתוף הפעולה השני בין השניים, לאחר שמינאז' השתתפה ברמיקס ללהיטו של דה ויקנד, "The Hills".[7]

הצלחה

ביחד עם צאת האלבום המלא, הועלה השיר לרשת הזרמת המדיה ספוטיפיי, תוך שהצליח לצבור שם למעלה מ-23 השמעות.[8] אף על פי שלא יצא כסינגל, הצליח השיר להגיע למקום ה-98 במצעד הבילבורד הוט 100.[9]

ביקורת

מגזין HotNewHipHop (אנ') סקר את השיר באומרו כי השיר הוא "כמה ארפג'יואים קצרים מסיבוב מועדונים" וכי "זה כאילו ניקי חיפשה הפוגה רגשית עם רגל אחת מחוץ לדלת. היא מקוננת על דינמיקה שבורה, אך איכשהו אינה מסוגלת לזכור את צעדיה, את תנועותיה של אישה חסרת הומור ועם זאת מפלגת. דה ויקנד צעיר ממנה בכמה שנים, אך לא פחות דוחה. שניהם מחזיקים ביכולות הטיפוח שלהם בכבוד רב".[10]

אקשרה אננד מ-The Chronicle (אנ') סקרה את האלבום בו השיר נכלל, Queen, תוך שסקרה את השיר בחיוב ואמרה כי "ההצגה המתמדת בין פעימותיו של המפיק ג'יי רייד לקול הוולטו המסורתי של דה ויקנד מייצרת שיר חלומי ועם זאת ניתנת לניתוח. השיר מתרחק מהמסר הכללי של מינאז' וחסר את העוצמה הגרעינית של השירים האחרים שלה, אך הוא לא פחות חזק רגשית".[11]
