Never Say Never (בעברית: לעולם לא להגיד לעולם לא) הוא אלבומה השני של הזמרת-יוצרת האמריקאית, ברנדי נורווד.[1] האלבום יצא לאור ב-9 ביוני 1998, בצפון אמריקה, ויום קודם לכן, באירופה על ידי חברת התקליטים אטלנטיק רקורדס.[1]

עם יציאתו נכנס האלבום אל המקום השני במצעד הבילבורד 200.[2]

רקע

חברת התקליטים של נורווד התייעצה עם דייוויד פוסטר (אשר עבד עם סלין דיון) ועם רודני ג'רקינס והצוות שלו (שלימים עבד עם זמרות כמו ג'ניפר לופז, מרי ג'יי בלייג', ג'נט ג'קסון ועם נורווד עצמה על אלבומים אחרים שלה) כדי לקבל רעיונות לקבל הכיוון המוזיקלי של האלבום הבא.

מבחינה לירית האלבום עוסק בניסיונותיה האישיים של נורווד עם אהבה, מונוגמיה, ריכולים בתקשורת ובגרות.

סוגה וביקורת

מבחינה מוזיקלית האלבום הושפע מזמרות כמו מריה קארי ווויטני יוסטון במטרה ליצור פן בוגר יותר מבחינה מוזיקלית ולכן נעשה שימוש באלבום בבלדות ומוזיקה עכשווית למבוגרים בשילוב עם פופ אורבני.

עם יציאתו האלבום אכן ביסס את מעמדה של נורווד כזמרת לכל המשפחה ואף האלבום זכה לסיקור תקשורתי נרחב.

הצלחה וסינגלים

עם יציאתו, האלבום הגיע למקום ה-3 בארצות הברית עם מכירות של 160 אלף עותקים ושהה בעשרים הראשונים במשך 28 שבועות. מתוך האלבום יצאו 7 סינגלים ביניהם להיט הענק "The Boy Is Mine" והשיר "Have You Ever?" שהפך ללהיט בצפון אמריקה ובאוקיאניה.

השיר "Top of the World" לא זכה להצלחה בצפון אמריקה, אך הפך ללהיט באירופה. בנוסף להצלחת השירים, גם האלבום עצמו לזכה להצלחה אדירה ומכירותיו מסתכמות נכון להיום בכ-14 מיליון עותקים ובעקבות כך הפך לאלבום המצליח ביותר שלה.

פרסים ומועמדויות

בנוסף להצלחתו המסחרית הוא גם היה מועמד לפרס גראמי בקטגוריית "הביצוע הווקאלי הטוב ביותר בשיר R&B על ידי צמד או קבוצה" בעקבות השיר "The Boy Is Mine".
