Journal of Psychopathology and Clinical Science (בעברית: כתב העת לפסיכופתולוגיה ולמדעים קליניים; לשעבר "כתב העת לפסיכולוגיה אבנורמלית" ו-"כתב העת לפסיכולוגיה אבנורמלית ולפסיכולוגיה חברתית") הוא כתב עת מדעי, מבוסס ביקורת עמיתים, היוצא לאור על ידי האגודה האמריקאית לפסיכולוגיה (APA).

כתב עת זה הוא מהוותיקים שבתחום הפסיכולוגיה, כאשר גליונו הראשון יצא באפריל 1906[1].

נכון לשנת 2024 עורך כתב העת הוא איידן רייט (Aidan G. C. Wright) מאוניברסיטת פיטסבורג, וכתב העת יוצא לאור 8 פעמים בשנה.

כתב העת מתמקד בתחומים הבאים:

  • תהליכים פסיכולוגיים בסיסיים המלווים מחלה נפשית
  • מחקרים תיאוריים ואפידמיולוגיים המקדמים הבנה של פסיכופתלוגיה
  • מחקרים ניסויים המקדמים הבנה של פגיעה באופן ארגונם של רגשות, מחשבות והתנהגות.
  • מחקרים הקושרים תרבות ופסיכופתלוגיה
  • מחקרים מתודולוגיים המקדמים שיטות למדידה ולחקר פסיכופתלוגיות.

היסטוריה

בשנת 1906 החל כתב העת לפסיכולוגיה אבנורמלית לצאת לאור תחת עריכתו של החוקר מורטון פרינס. בגיליון הראשון שיצא, ציין פרינס בפתיח כי כתב העת "מיועד בעיקר להדפסת מאמרים של מחקרים קליניים ומעבדתיים של תופעות מנטליות אבנורמליות"[2]. פרינס שימש כעורך בפועל עד שנת 1921, אך המשיך להחזיק בתואר עורך כתב העת עד מותו בשנת 1929[1]. בין השנים 1921 ל-1929 שימש בפועל כעורך פלוייד אלופורט (Floyd H. Allport), אשר החזיק בתואר עורך שותף (Cooperating Editor)[1]. עם החלפת העורכים בפועל בשנת 1921 שונה גם שמו של כתב העת ל"כתב העת לפסיכולוגיה אבנורמלית ולפסיכולוגיה חברתית"[1], מתוך הנחה שהתחום החדש של פסיכולוגיה חברתית יכול לתרום להבנת פסיכופתלוגיות. בשנת 1925, קוצר שמו של כתב העת ל"כתב העת לפסיכולוגיה אבנורמלית וחברתית", שם שהחזיק על הכתב במשך 40 שנה, אם כי במהלכן היה שיח על חזרה לתחום הצר יותר הכולל רק פסיכולוגיה אבנורמלית ופסיכופתלוגיה[1].

בשנת 1926, מורטון פרינס, אשר היה גם עורך וגם בעלים, נתן את כתב העת לאיגוד הפסיכולוגים האמריקאי, על מנת שהוא ימשיך להתקיים גם לאחר מותו, בתנאי שרווחיו ישמשו לפיתוחו של כתב העת, ושמיקודו ימשיך להיות בחקר הפסיכולוגיה האבנורמלית[1]. בשנת 1930 העריכה הופקדה בידי הנרי טי מור[1], נשיא סקידמור קולג'. בשנת 1937 מונה הפסיכולוג הבולט גורדון אולפורט לעורך כתב העת, תפקיד בו כיהן עד לשנת 1949. בין השנים 1950 ל-1955 שימש כעורך הפסיכולוג ג'וסף מקויקר האנט (Joseph McVicker Hunt), בין השנים 1956–1961 כיהן הפסיכולוג מאלון בריווסטר סמית' (Mahlon Brewster Smith), ולאחר מכן בין 1962–1964 כיהן הפסיכולוג דניאל כץ.

פיצול העיתון

בשנת 1963, אושר באגודה האמריקאית לפסיכולוגיה פיצול כתב העת לשני כתבי עת נפרדים - אחד העוסק בפסיכופתלוגיה ואחד העוסק בפסיכולוגיה חברתית והבדלים בין אישיים בטווח הנורמה. בכך, בשנת 1965 חזר השם ל"כתב העת לפסיכולוגיה אבנורמלית" ונוסד "כתב העת לאישיות ופסיכולוגיה חברתית" (JPSP). המספור החל מחדש עבור ה-JPSP, בעוד "כתב העת לפסיכולוגיה אבנורמלית" המשיך את המספור הקיים[1]. הפיצול נוסד בעיקר בעקבות השונות המתודולוגית שהתרחבה בין תחומי הפסיכולוגיה החברתית וחקר האבנורמליות, לצד התפתחות התחומים כתחומי דעת נפרדים, תהליך אשר הפחית את העניין שהביעו חוקרי פסיכולוגיה אבנורמלית בפסיכולוגיה חברתית וההפך. כמו כן, לעומס הגובר על מערכות כתב העת בטיפול במאמרים מוגשים, היה משקל מרכזי גם על ההחלטה, לצד התזרים הגובר של מאמרים מוגשים בתחומי הפסכולוגיה החברתית, בהשוואה למספר המאמרים המוגשים המשתייכים לפסיכולוגיה אבנורמלית[1].

העיתון במאה ה-21

בשנת 2022 שונה שמו של כתב העת לשמו הנוכחי "Journal of Psychopathology and Clinical Science"[3]
