המשחקים הפאראלימפיים ה-4 בשנת 1972 התקיימו בהיידלברג שבגרמניה המערבית. בתחרויות האולימפיאדה השתתפו לראשונה ספורטאים בעלי לקות ראייה.

באולימפיאדה התקיימו תחרויות בעשרה ענפים: אתלטיקה, הטלת חיצים, חץ וקשת, טניס שולחן, כדורת דשא, כדורסל, כדורשער, הרמת משקולות, סיוף בכיסאות גלגלים, סנוקר, ושחייה.
