Sarah Mather nada en 1796 e finada o 21 de xuño de 1868,[1] foi unha inventora. En 1845 obtivo a patente para un modelo de periscopio submarino dotado dunha lámpada.[2] Perfeccionou o seu invento e en 1864 obtivo unha nova patente para a mellora.[3]

Pouco se sabe da vida de Sarah Mather, nin cando naceu nin cando morreu, na entrada en The Biographical Dictionary of Women in Science sinalan que casou e, polo menos, tivo unha filla.[4]
