Rexeneración

En bioloxía, a rexeneración^[1] é o proceso de renovación, restauración, e crecemento que fai aos xenomas, células, organismos, e ecosistemas resilientes a acontecementos ou flutuacións naturais que causan perturbación ou dano.^[2] Tódalas especies teñen capacidade de rexeneración, dende as bacterias até os humanos.^[3][4] A rexeneración pode ser ora completa^[5] onde o novo tecido é o mesmo que o tecido perdido,^[5] ora incompleta^[6] onde despois do tecido necrótico vén a fibrose.^[6] No seu nivel máis elemental, a rexeneración está mediada por procesos moleculares de regulación xénica.^[7][8] Porén, a rexeneración en bioloxía adoita facer referencia a procesos morfoxénicos que caracterizan os trazos de plasticidade fenotípica que permiten aos organismos multicelulares reparar e manter a integridade dos seus estados fisiolóxicos e morfolóxicos. Por enriba do nivel xenético, a rexeneración está fundamentalmente regulada por procesos celulares asexuais.^[9] A rexeneración é diferente da reprodución. Por examplo, o xénero hydra realiza a rexeneración mais reprodúcese polo método da xemación.
