Le Caucase est une région montagneuse comprise entre l'Iran, la Turquie et une partie de la Russie. On découpe généralement le Caucase en deux : le Caucase du Sud, ou Transcaucasie, est formé de trois pays : l'Arménie, l'Azerbaïdjan et la Géorgie. Le Caucase du Nord, ou Ciscaucasie, se situe en Russie. La montagne la plus haute est l'Elbrouz, haut de 5 642 mètres.
