Leader du Parti libéral (Royaume-Uni)

Au Royaume-Uni, le Parti libéral est officiellement créé en 1859 et disparaît en 1988, lorsqu'il fusionne avec le Parti social-démocrate pour créer les Libéraux-démocrates.

In the absence from Parliament of Asquith, who had lost his seat in the 1918 general election, he acted as leader of the Liberal MPs opposed to the Lloyd George coalition. Although this was a smaller group than the Parliamentary Labour Party, Maclean also performed the functions of Leader of the Opposition.

7. Samuel assure l'intérim au nom de Lloyd George, malade, durant l'été 1931, et entre au Gouvernement national le 24 août. Il devient leader de facto lorsque Lloyd George entre en complète opposition au Gouvernement national, au mois d'octobre. Ce n'est qu'après les élections de 1931 qu'il le devient à proprement parler. Il perd son siège aux élections de 1935.
8. Sinclair perd son siège aux élections de 1945.
9. Thorpe a été le premier leader du Parti libéral sous la Constitution de 1969.
10. Grimond est nommé leader par intérim du parti au Parlement entre la démission de Thorpe et l'élection de Steel.
11. Steel a été le dernier leader du parti. Il est devenu l'un des leaders provisoires des libéraux-démocrates à la suite de la fusion de 1988.
