Vauhditon pituushyppy

Konstantinos Tsiklitiras voittamassa kultaa vauhdittoman pituushypyn kisassa kesäolympialaisissa 1912.

Vauhditon pituushyppy on aiemmin olympiaohjelmassa ollut yleisurheilulaji.

Sääntöjen mukaan jalat saivat olla ponnistuksessa missä asennossa tahansa, mutta ne saivat kohota maasta ainoastaan kerran.[1]

Vauhditon pituushyppy oli olympialaji vuosina 1900–1912. Menestynein urheilija oli Ray Ewry, joka voitti lajissa kolmesti olympiakultaa. Suomen mestaruuksista kilpailtiin 1909–1937. Eniten mestaruuksia, yhteensä neljä, saavutti Allan Larto. Piirinmestaruuskilpailujen ohjelmassa laji pysyi joissakin tapauksissa ohjelmassa 1970-luvun alkupuolelle asti.[2] Veteraanien SM-kilpailuissa laji on pysynyt ohjelmassa 2000-luvullakin.[3] Norjassa laji on maan yleisurheilumestaruuskisojen ohjelmistossa edelleenkin.

Lajin jäädessä pois olympiaohjelmasta maailmanennätys oli Konstantinos Tsiklitiraksen 350,5 cm.[1] Nykyinen epävirallinen ennätys on Byron Jonesin 2015 NFL Combine -testaustilaisuudessa hyppäämä 373 cm (12 jalkaa 3 tuumaa)[4]. Naisten epävirallinen ennätys on Norjan Annelin Mannesin 292 cm vuodelta 1981.[5] Viimeiseksi viralliseksi Suomen ennätykseksi jäi Erkki Toivasen 1938 hyppäämä 343 cm.[2]

Juha Isolehto on hypännyt kaikkien aikojen parhaan suomalaistuloksen: 362 cm hallikilpailuissa vuonna 1994 [6].

Ray Ewry hyppäsi vauhditonta pituutta takaperin 287 cm, mikä on tiettävästi edelleen ennätys.[7]

Nykyään vauhditon pituushyppy kuuluu useiden lajien urheilijoiden harjoitus- ja testipatteriin. Sillä mitataan koko kehon räjähtävää voimantuottoa ja kimmoisuutta. Amerikkalaisen jalkapallon Yhdysvaltain kansallista valintatilaisuutta NFL Draftia edeltävässä psykofyysisiä ominaisuuksia kartoittavassa testaustilaisuudessa NFL Combinessa, jonne kutsutaan vuosittain 300 lupaavinta yliopistopelaajaa, kaikkien aikojen parhaan tuloksen on saavuttanut Byron Jones, 373 cm, vuonna 2015. Mäkihyppääjistä Janne Ahonen on ponnistanut 320 cm.
