Timo Karppinen (s. 26. joulukuuta 1967) on entinen suomalainen huippusuunnistaja, moninkertainen arvokisamitalisti.[1] Seuratasolla hän edusti Lahden Työväen Hiihtäjiä, Oulun Tarmoa ja SK Pohjantähteä.[2]

Karppinen saavutti pikamatkan hopeaa vuoden 1993 MM-kilpailuissa West Pointissa. Hän hävisi kilpailun voittaneelle Petter Thoresenille 26 sekuntia. Karppinen suunnisti lisäksi ankkuriosuuden pronssia saaneessa Suomen viestijoukkueessa ja oli normaalimatkalla seitsemäs. Vuoden 1995 MM-kilpailuissa Detmoldissa hän suunnisti kolmannen osuuden Suomen saavuttaessa Sveitsin jälkeen hopeaa viestissä. Normaalimatkalla Karppinen oli neljäs vain sekunnin pronssimitalisti Carsten Jørgensenille hävinneenä, pikamatkalla hän sijoittui 21:nneksi.[3]

Grimstadin MM-kilpailuissa 1997 Karppinen saavutti Janne Salmen jälkeen hopeaa pikamatkalla ja juoksi avausosuuden Suomen viestijoukkueessa, joka sijoittui Tanskan jälkeen toiseksi. Normaalimatkalla hän oli kymmenes. Invernessin MM-kisoissa 1999 Karppinen oli pikamatkalla seitsemästoista ja normaalimatkalla kahdeskymmenes.[3] Vuonna 2000 Karppinen sijoittui Truskavetsin EM-kilpailuissa normaalimatkalla 13:nneksi, pikamatkalla 48:nneksi ja viestijoukkueen mukana yhdenneksitoista.[4]
