Sápmelaš

Sápmelaš (suom. Saamelainen), alun perin Sabmelaš, oli pohjoissaameksi ilmestynyt aikakauslehti[1], jota julkaistiin Suomessa vuodesta 1934 vuoteen 2001. Lehti korosti saamen kielen asemaa sekä kristillisiä arvoja.[1]

Lehden perusti 1934 Lapin sivistysseura.[1][a] Aluksi se oli vain nelisivuinen julkaisu, mutta se jaettiin ilmaiseksi jokaiseen Suomen saamelaistalouteen.[2] Lehti sai tukea Suomen valtiolta vuoteen 1995, jonka jälkeen sitä rahoitti Suomen saamelaiskäräjät. Vuonna 2001 lehti jouduttiin lakkauttamaan rahoituksen puutteen vuoksi.

Lehden ensimmäisiä päätoimittajia olivat Paavo Ravila (1934–1943) ja Erkki Itkonen (1934–1950), jotka molemmat olivat Helsingin yliopiston suomalais-ugrilaisten kielten professoreita. 1940-luvulla lehteä toimittivat myös Hans-Aslak Guttorm ja Pekka Lukkari.[2] Jouni Kitti oli päätoimittajana 1981–1998.[3]

Sápmelaš-lehti ja sen toimituskunta Samuli Alkio, Pekka Sammallahti, Helvi Nuorgam- Poutasuo ja Sulo Aikio saivat tiedonjulkistamisen valtionpalkinnon sanomalehtityöstä vuonna 1976.[4]
