Kairakääpä (Antrodia primaeva) on hyvin harvinainen, pohjoinen kääpälaji. Se on luokiteltu uhanalaiseksi (VU), mihin ovat johtaneet vanhojen metsien, metsäpalojen ja lahopuiden väheneminen.[2]

Kairakäävän itiöemät ovat pienikokoisia ja resupinaattisia tai puoliresupinaattisia. Tuoreena kääpä on pehmeä ja vahamaisen kuultava, kuivana liitumaisen hauras. Puoliresupinaattisen muodon yläpinta on mattainen, kermanvärinen tai ruosteruskeilla laikuilla. Pillipinta on tuoreena valkoinen, vanhetessaan hieman ruskeasävyinen ja kuivana kellertävä tai ruosteenruskea. Pillit ovat kulmikkaita, ja niitä on 1–4 millimetrillä, joukossa on myös isompia pitkulaisia pillejä.

Isäntäpuuna on mänty, jonka keloissa ja kannoissa yksivuotiset itiöemät kasvavat aikaisin kesällä.[3]
