Kaarlo Niilonen

Kaarlo Niilonen (3. kesäkuuta 1922 – 24. helmikuuta 1996 Fredrikshavn[1]) oli suomalainen jalkapalloilija.

Välihyökkääjänä pelannut Niilonen edusti urallaan TUL:n Kotkan Työväen Palloilijoita 1939–1946.[2] Hän oli ensimmäinen TUL:n seurasta maajoukkueeseen noussut pelaaja, kun hänet kutsuttiin 1943 maaotteluun Ruotsia vastaan. Kaikkiaan hänelle kertyi kolme A-maaottelua.[2] Niilonen siirtyi Tanskaan pelaamaan 1946 ja oli ensimmäinen ulkomaille pelaamaan siirtynyt suomalainen. Tanskasta hän siirtyi Sveitsiin ja vuosina 1954–1956[3] Niilonen toimi Sveitsin toiseksi korkeimmalla sarjatasolla olleen FC Solothurnin pelaajavalmentajana. [4]

Pelaajauran jälkeen Niilonen toimi pitkään valmentajana Tanskassa, jossa hän valmensi muun muassa Aalborg BK:a ja Tanskan B-maajoukkuetta. Niilosta pidetään ensimmäisenä suomalaisena ulkomailla ammattikseen valmentaneena. [4]
