Jyrki Käkönen

Jyrki Käkönen (s. 23. tammikuuta 1943[1]) on suomalainen rauhan- ja konfliktintutkija.[2]

Käkösen isän toiveena oli pojan ryhtyminen upseeriksi, mutta Käkönen valitsi yliopistouran. Hänen maailmankuvansa muokkautui vasemmistolaiseksi Vietnamin sodan ja kolmanteen maailmaan liittyneiden teemojen myötä. Käkönen kirjoitti ylioppilaaksi Turun suomalaisesta yhteiskoulusta vuonna 1964. Filosofian kandidaatin arvon hän sai vuonna 1971, ja valtiotieteen tohtoriksi hän väitteli vuonna 1986. Käkönen oli Turun yliopistossa assistenttina (1976), apulaisprofessorina (1982) ja yliassistenttina (1983) ennen vuonna 1987 sinne saamaansa nimitystä kansainvälisen politiikan dosentiksi. Vuonna 1988 Käkösestä tuli myös Joensuun ja Oulun yliopistojen dosentti.[2] Hän oli professorina Tampereen yliopistossa vuosina 1998–2007 ja Tallinnan yliopistossa (kansainväliset suhteet, Eurooppa-opinnot[3]) vuosina 2007–2015.[4]

Käkönen työskenteli Tampereen rauhan- ja konfliktintutkimuslaitoksen tutkijana vuodesta 1983[2] ja johtajana vuosina 1988–1998.[4] Hän oli Suomen rauhantutkimusyhdistys ry:n puheenjohtaja vuosina 1986–1988 ja jatkoi sen jälkeen toimimista sen johtokunnan jäsenenä. Vuonna 1992 hänestä tuli European Peace Universityn (Itävalta) johtokunnan jäsen.[2]

Käkönen on julkaissut lukuisia kirjoja.[2] Vuonna 2020 hän julkaisi Palladium Kirjat -kustantamon kautta vuosina 1966–1969 kirjoittamaansa runoutta kokoelmassa Paikkani maailmassa.[1]
