Arvo Räikkönen

Arvo Yrjö Rafael Räikkönen (9. heinäkuuta 1906 Lempaala, Inkeri – 23. kesäkuuta 1978 Rauma)[1] oli suomalainen kuoronjohtaja, säveltäjä ja musiikkipedagogi.

Räikkönen valmistui filosofian maisteriksi Helsingin yliopistosta vuonna 1931 ja toimi musiikinopettajana Turun kansakouluissa vuosina 1931–1937 sekä musiikin lehtorina Rauman seminaarissa vuosina 1937–1973. Hänen ns. vanhaa musiikkia kohtaan tuntemansa kiinnostus toi uusia ideoita etenkin mieskuorolauluun. Hän oli tuottelias säveltäjä, jonka teoksia palkittiin useissa sävellyskilpailuissa. Räikkösen sävellyksiä on tallentanut muun muassa mieskuoro Laulu-Miehet. Räikkönen sai professorin arvonimen vuonna 1977.[2][3]

Arvo Räikkösen isä oli Pietarin Pyhän Marian kirkon kanttori Pekka Bernhard Räikkönen. Hänen veljiään olivat oopperalaulaja Sulo Räikkönen ja äärioikeistolainen poliitikko Erkki Räikkönen.[4]
