Ahkerat lukutoukat

Ahkerat lukutoukat -veistos Samppalinnan koulun edustalla.

Ahkerat lukutoukat (1975) on Simo Heleniuksen veistos ja yksi harvoista lapsia kuvaavista julkisista veistoksista Turussa. Teos sijaitsee Samppalinnan koulun edustalla, ja se tilattiin kuvataidelautakunnan ehdotuksesta koulun somistamiseen varatuista määrärahoista.[1]

Ahkerat lukutoukat -teos kuvaa kolmea jättimäisen kirjan läpi ryömivää lasta, siis kolmea ”toukkaa” jotka ahmivat tiedonjanossaan kirjaan reiän. Veistoksen korkeus on 150 cm, paino noin 2 000 kg, ja se on valmistettu betonista[2]. Veistos tunnetaan myös nimellä Ahkerat kirjatoukat.[1]
