وی از لحاظ سیاسی محافظه کار و این دیدش را در دوران جوانی خود در شرق گالیسیا تحت حکومت لهستان و بعد از آن نیز در طول جنگ سرد در کشور اوکراین حفظ نمود. وی خواهان آشتی اوکراینیان و یهودیان بود.
