Süstoolne vererõhk

Süstoolne vererõhk on vererõhk, mis näitab suletud vereringeelundkonnaga organismidel suure vereringe suurte arterite kõige kõrgemat rõhku vatsakestesüstoli jooksul.[1]

Süstoolne vererõhk on füsioloogiline näitaja, mida mõõdetakse valdavalt vererõhumõõturitega ning väljendatakse elavhõbedasamba kõrgusega millimeetrites (mmHg).

Süstoolne vererõhk võib varieeruda nii liigiti kui ka indiviiditi ja sõltub vanusest, keha asendist, organismi tervislikust ja/või haiguslikust seisundist, toitumisest ning ka pärilikest ja muudest teguritest. Imiku (1–12-kuuse lapse) normaalne süstoolne vererõhk on 75–100 mmHg.

Süstool: ajavahemik, mil süda tõmbub kokku. Periood, mille jooksul südame vasak vatsake kokku tõmbub.

Süstoolne rõhk on konkreetselt maksimaalne arteriaalne rõhk südame vasaku vatsakese kokkutõmbumisel.

Vererõhu lugemisel on süstoolne rõhk tavaliselt esimene registreeritud arv. Näiteks vererõhu korral 120/80 ("120 üle 80") on süstoolne rõhk 120. "120" all mõeldakse 120 mm Hg (millimeetrit elavhõbedat).

Süstoolne mühin on südame mürin, mis on kuulda süstooli ajal, kui süda kokku tõmbub, normaalse esimese ja teise südameheli vahel.

"Süstool" tuli muutmata Kreeka süstoolist, mis tähendab "kokku joonistamist või kokkutõmbumist". Seda mõistet on kasutatud alates 16. sajandist südamelihase kokkutõmbumise tähistamiseks.
