Pál Maléter

Pál Maléter (4. september 1917 Eperjes (tänapäeval Prešov, Slovakkia) – 16. juuni 1958 Budapest) oli Ungari sõjaväelane.

Gümnaasiumi lõpetamise järel õppis Pál Maléter kaks aastat Prahas Karli Ülikoolis meditsiini. 1938. aastal asus ta elama esmalt Košicesse ja seejärel Budapesti, kus ta jätkas meditsiiniõpinguid, kuid oli rahalistel põhjustel sunnitud need katkestama. Seejärel astus ta sõjaväeteenistusse ja suunati õppima Ludovica Akadeemiasse, mille lõpetamise järel saadeti ta Idarindele. Ta langes Punaarmee kätte vangi ja saadeti 1944. aastal Transilvaaniasse Saksa vägede vastu partisanivõitlust pidama. 1945. aasta jaanuaris juhatas ta brigaadi, mis kaitses Ungari Ajutist Valitsust. Ta jäi armeeteenistusse ja 1956. aastaks jõudis koloneli auastmeni. 28. oktoobril 1956 läks ta oma väeosaga ülestõusnute poole üle. 31. oktoobril 1956 määrati ta Imre Nagy valitsuses kaitseministri asetäitjaks ja 3. novembril 1956 kaitseministriks. Ühtlasi ülendati ta kindralmajoriks.[1] 3. novembri kesköö paiku arreteerisid Nõukogude sõjaväelased nendega läbirääkimisi pidava Ungari delegatsioon eesotsas kaitseminister Pál Maléteriga. 4. novembril hommikul alustasid Nõukogude väed rünnakut Budapestile ja teistele Ungari linnadele.[2]

15. juunil 1958 mõisteti Pál Maléter kohtuprotsessil surma. Kohtuotsus viidi järgmisel päeval täide.[3]
