Cyrano de Bergerac

Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac (6. märts[a] 1619 – 28. juuli 1655) oli prantsuse kirjanik.

Cyrano teosed "Teine maailm ehk Kuu riigid ja impeeriumid" (L'Autre Monde: ou les États et Empires de la Lune; avaldatud postuumselt 1657) ja "Päikese riikide ja impeeriumide koomiline ajalugu" (Les États et Empires du Soleil; avaldatud postuumselt 1662) olid moodsa teadusulme eelkäijad.

Temast on loodud mitmeid teoseid. Neist rahvusvaheliselt tuntuim on Edmond Rostandi näidend "Cyrano de Bergerac". Eestis aga Eino Tambergi ooper "Cyrano de Bergerac".

Cyrano de Bergeraci järgi on nimetatud asteroid 3582 Cyrano.[1]

Märkused

^a Kuigi 6. märtsi tuuakse sageli välja tema sünnikuupäevana, siis täpsem on öelda, et sel päeval ta ristiti. Tollel ajal toimus Pariisis ristimine tavaliselt kolme päeva jooksul alates sündimisest ja ei ole välistatud see, et de Bergerac võis samal kuupäeval sündida. Teave täpsest kuupäevast ei ole aga meie ajani säilinud.
