Aleksander Koskel

Aleksander Koskel, kuni 1936. aastani Aleksander Koch (11. märts 1909 Tartumaa, Aru vald – 24. detsember 1988 Falköping, Rootsi) oli eest arst ja rahvuslane. Aleksander Koskel oli tuntud lõuna-eesti pedagoogi ja EÜS auvilistlase Aleksander Raudseppa õepoeg.

Lõpetas 1929. aastal Tartu Õpetajate Seminari ning töötas Palal 1929–1934 õpetajana. 1934–1940 õppis Tartu Ülikooli arstiteaduskonnas. 1936. aastast Eesti Üliõpilaste Seltsi liige. Ülikooli ajal sai Aleksander Koskel kahe üliõpilastöö eest 1938. ja 1939. aastal auhinna. Mõlemad tööd käsitlesid tuberkuloosi.

Töötas 1940–1944 Tartu Ülikooli Tervishoiuinstituudis assistendina, 1940–1944 Tartu Tuberkuloosi Sanatooriumis arstina. Alates ülikooli viimastest kursustest osales Tervishoiu Muuseumi töös (loengud, rändnäitused, kaastöö artiklitele ajakirjanduses). 1940–1941 oli endise Tervishoiu Muuseumi, nõukogude ajal Tartu Sanitaarharidusmajaks ümber organiseeritud asutuse juhataja.

Osales koos Karl Auna, Harald Tammuri, Rudolf Saago, Lembit Kriisa, Turvo Turviste ja teistega põrandaaluse EÜSi eestseisuse töös 1940–1941. 1941. aasta märtsist kujunes sellest rahvusliku vastupanuliikumise rühm, mida hiljem hakati kutsuma Tervishoiu Muuseumi Grupiks. Koskeli eestvõtmisel valmistati ja koguti eelseisvaks sõjategevuseks esmaabipakendeid. 1941. aasta juulis oli Aleksander Koskel Tartu ülestõusu juhi Olev Reintalu üks abisid. Peale arstiabi osutamise rindel võttis ta osa ka otsesest lahingutegevusest.

Pärast Suvesõda jäi Aleksander Koskel Omakaitse Tartumaa maleva juurde arstiks. Selles ametis oli ta Tervishoiu Muuseumi Grupi võtmeisikuks kutsealuste Eesti meeste päästmisel Saksa mobilisatsioonist.

Koskeli initsiatiivil avati Tartus 1944. aasta alguses ka Omakaitse Haigla vabatahtlikest töötajate ja kodanike annetustest koostatud sisustusega.

1943. aasta lõpust – 1944. aasta algusest oli Aleksander Koskel seotud ka Eesti Vabariigi Rahvuskomitee tegevusega. Ta arreteeriti SD poolt üheaegselt teiste eesti rahvuslastega 21. aprillil 1944. Vangist vabanes septembris 1944, põgenes perega Rootsi.

Rootsis toimetas ta 1952. aastal eestikeelse “Tervishoiu käsiraamatu”, olles kirjastuse Tõrvik kaasomanik.

1955. aastal sai Koskel Rootsi arstilitsentsi ning töötas esialgu Oskarshamnis, edasi Falköpingis.

Vabal ajal pühendus ta paljudes kirjutistes ja esinemistes eesti rahvusluse ideede jätkamisele, osales EÜSi tegevuses ning noortelaagri Metsakodu [1] rajamises ja toetamises.
