Jardín Etnobotánico

El jardín etnobotánico es un jardín botánico que tiene como objetivo, el de acoger las plantas que tienen una estrecha relación con el hombre y la mujer en su contexto sociocultural. Es un escaparate pedagógico para los cereales, berzas, plantas aromáticas, medicinales, plantas tintoreras y de uso artesanal, que cultivadas desde el Neolítico constituyen las colecciones que se pueden exhibir.[1]​

Contenidos de un jardín etnobotánico

El planteamiento de tal jardín está incluido en la disciplina: etnobotánica, que pretende mostrar los estrechos lazos que unen a los seres humanos con las plantas. En el jardín las especies vegetales constituyen el apoyo de un enfoque pedagógico atractivo de la historia, de la evolución de la agricultura, los hábitos, la alimentación, y de las creencias populares.

El jardín etnobotánico tiene la vocación sociocultural demasiado a menudo ignorada, de mostrar la historia del hombre. Algunas categorías de aplicación de la etnobotanica son:

-Uso terapéutico y lúdico humano[2]​

-Uso alimentario humano (no convencional ,pues del convencional se encarga la agricultura)

-Uso alimentario animal (idem al humano)

-Uso veterinario

-Artesanía, cestería

-Tintes

-Cosméticos

-Lírica popular (creencias mágicas no comprobables, poemas o lugares emblemáticos por su vegetación)

-Textiles

-Curtidos de pieles o cueros

Algunos jardines etnobotánicos

Una sede ejemplo en Colombia es el Jardín Etnobotánico Villa Ludovica La sede del Jardín Etnobotánico Villa Ludovica (JEBVL) se encuentra ubicada en el Cerro de la Pedrera, uno de los montículos que sobresalen de la Sierra Nevada en la ciudad de Santa Marta, Situado en la Avenida del Libertador # 15-03, en el predio, de 7000 metros cuadrados, denominado Villa Ludovica con una casa construida en 1892 sobre las ruinas de una antigua terraza arqueológica de la Cultura Tayrona, es uno de los puntos más altos dentro del casco urbano y posee una espectacular vista sobre la bahía y la ciudad de Santa Marta se encuentra un enclave seco, donde las precipitaciones no superan los 700 mm anuales y con un período de casi 8 meses sin lluvias durante el año.
