Ediciones Vigía es una editorial independiente ubicada en Matanzas, Cuba.[1]​ El nombre original radica en su ubicación, la plaza de la Vigía, una casa colonial en Matanzas.[1]​ Se caracteriza porque sus libros están hechos a mano.

Historia

Fue fundada en 1985 por el diseñador Rolando Estévez Jordán y Alfredo Zaldívar, creador de ideas.[2]​ Ante la escasez de papel de los años 90, fue necesario buscar otras maneras de producir los libros. Así, los primeros libros de ediciones Vigía contenían hojas de papel café obtenidas de las carnicerías de Matanzas. Los autores hacían los libros con una máquina de mimeografía.[2]​ Esta tradición sólo ha evolucionado. Hoy la editorial utiliza también materiales reutilizados como el papel, el hilo, la tela, las hojas, las flores secas, el papel de aluminio y otras cosas.[1]​

Producción

El objetivo de ediciones Vigía es producir los libros caseros que tienen valores literarios y valores artísticas.[3]​ Los libros están separados en partes para que los trabajadores puedan leerlos durante sus descansos. La editorial sólo produce doscientas publicaciones de cada libro casero. Cada libro tiene el mismo texto, material, y diseño, aunque con detalles artísticos diferentes.[1]​

La Universidad de Lleida dispone de cincuenta libros y dos títulos de revista procedentes de un donativo de Ediciones Vigía.[4]​
