Cryptovenator (Crypto, del griego kryptos (oculto, secreto); venator, del latín (cazador)) es un género extinto de pelicosaurio esfenacodóntido que existió en Alemania a finales del Carbonífero (Gzheliense, hace 300 millones de años). Se conoce por el holotipo LFN−PW 2008/5599−LS, un fragmento mandibular anterior, recuperado de una capa de arenisca fina y obscura de la formación Remigiusberg. Fue descrito por Jörg Fröbisch, Rainer R. Schoch, Johannes Müller, Thomas Schindler y Dieter Schweiss en 2011 y la especie tipo es Cryptovenator hirschbergeri.[1]​
