Gyula Gari

GARI Gyula Giulio Gari estis hungara kantisto (tenoro) naskiĝinta en Medgyes la 9-an de septembro 1909 kaj mortinta en Novjorko la 15-an de aprilo 1994.

Kariero

Gari studis kanton en la konservatorio de Milano kaj poste li revenis en Transsilvanujon kaj li kantis en la teatro hungara de Kluĵo. En 1937 lin dungis la Opera Reale de Romo. En novembro de 1939 li elmigris en Usonon kaj kantis en la operejo de Saint Louis. Ekde 1945 ĝis 1955, kun interrompoj, li estis ano de la Operejo de New York City Center. Ekde 1966 li aperis nur kiel gasto en ĉefe en San Francisko, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati. Li instruis en la muzikinstituto de New York Flushing. Al lia memoro oni fondis la fondaĵon The Giulio Gari Foundation.
