The 100 Days men of the 132nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment from 1864 is not related to the 132nd Illinois Infantry Regiment from WWI and WWII. The 132nd Illinois Infantry Regiment from WWI and WWII are related to the 19th IL Volunteer Infantry that served during the Civil War. Can someone help me migrate the content that was added to this page to the right pages? Thanks in advance! I will be very frank. The promotional language I saw in one article related to PML is completely unacceptable. Just now I did some revisions on James Dietz. Why? Adding nonsense about Dietz's dog, etc. simply does not comply with the expectations of the Wikipedia community. With this in mind, I ask PML associated editors to do the right thing and compose WP:BETTER articles. Please review and comply with WP:ISNOT. Don't expect other editors to come in and clean up unacceptable material. Thank you. – S. Watch the bite, Rich. The editors at the PML are still learning about conventions related to article content. Let me add to the promotionalism concern. I just now "demoted" the importance rating on Talk:Kay Smith (artist) to low. She was rated "top" in the various project ratings. Perhaps she is important in the Pritzer-GLAM project, but the article certainly does not "merit" such a rating in the other projects. Indeed, there is a tendency to add city and state WikiProjects to articles simply because someone was born in the city or state. As a result, WikiProjects become bloated and the listings of importance & quality suffer from a lack of critical editorial evaluation. In the world of Wikipedia this is simply a fact of life that Project members recognize (or at least that is my impression). At the same time, she is not listed in Arts or Military history Projects. She should be, but not with "top" importance ratings. – S. Would someone be willing to add the various languages that we have represented in the collections to the Wikipedia article on the Library?
The Library has holdings in English, Spanish, German, French, Polish, Russian, Czech, Japanese, and Arabic. Other languages like Tagalog and Korean are represented as well.
PMML is a research library. We are not currently a member of ARL. However, we are members of CARLI (Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois), RAILS (regional multi-type library system), and LVIS (Libraries Very Interested in Sharing).
Also, there have been past news articles/press releases on some of the named collections. If that could get fleshed out a bit, it would be appreciated. A press release on the Dr.Charles E. Metz Collection on World War II aviation is currently scheduled for Jan. 2014.

One suggestion: a citeable link would help with this sort of request. For simple information where sourcing to the liberary is uncontroversial, simply giving a webv page link to the library would be enough. This vastly simplifies the job of adding it in, and,, as it would be cited, limits the chance of it being removed again. A little caution is helpful - "Can you add [simple fact], here's a source!" is uncontroversial, but "cCan you add [glowing praise], here's the source?" might raise the spectre of conflict of interest. The Mercedes Graf article about this living historian has been marked for speedy deletion & discussion is ensuing.
One of the big complaints is that it reads like an academic vitae, since the historian herself added her paper presentations, etc. to it.
If you can make improvements to the article to bring it in line with Wikipedia's style guide, please do so. The scans so far have been very, very small. Now, that's still often very useful to articles, but if we do better than the minimum for article use, we can use the material to promote our goals far more effectively. Featured pictures are images considered amongst the best on Wikipedia, and get a space on Wikipedia's main page, alongside the articles they represent. So if we can get scans right, instead of just being on the article pages, they'll be on the main page. And that can, for a day or so, attract a lot of attention to a page. For example, on August 11, a featured picture of a Turbojet appeared on the main page. Look what happened to the page views of Turbojet on that day: http://stats.grok.se/en/201408/Turbojet
Given that some of them may end up cropped a bit, in order to make sure they're acceptable for featured picture, the minimum to go for should be 2000px on the shortest side. Bigger is better; don't downscale.
This means to scan at at least 300dpi for large images (posters, etc) and 600dpi for smaller images (anything smaller than the size of a standard piece of paper).[1] The scans will likely need a bit of cleanup to remove dust, but I'd be happy to help with that.
One thing to note: If the scan is very large (100 megabytes filesize or larger), you may need to use chunked uploads; the easy way to do that is to use commons:Special:UploadWizard. It sometimes has a few issues with checking whether information is "correctly filled in" to a somewhat over-limited definition of "correctly filled in", but poke me if that gives you problems and I'll help.
Anyway, to give some idea of what is needed to pass featured picture, a selection of recent featured pictures I restored follows. It'll give you some idea, I think. I've selected ones of similar formats to what you've uploaded. Obviously, the subjects are more varied. Also, note that these are after restoration to remove dust and scratches. Note especially the first two, as they're examples of imperfect photographs that were still perfectly featureable - I don't want you to feel that any flaw in the photo will block it. Everything but the posters is from 2014; the two posters at the end of the list are from 2013. Adam Cuerden(talk)17:10, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2014-08-15T17:10:00.000Z","author":"Adam Cuerden","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-Adam_Cuerden-2014-08-15T17:10:00.000Z-Image_scans","replies":[]}}-->
Samples of things that have been featured
This is the kind of quality historical media getting featured nowadays has. As you can see, the resolution is way above the scans being produced by this project at the moment.
Footnotes
^dpi = dots per inch. So a 5" wide image scanned at 600dpi will be 3000 pixels wide
Reflinks is a tool that can fill in bare URLs for online sources, and is especially useful for automagically pulling title, work, and author information from news articles. To add it in, go to Special:MyPage/common.js and add in the following text:
{{subst:iusc|User:Zhaofeng Li/Reflinks.js}}
The tool appears on the left side on the screen under the list of tools and reads, Reflinksoptions. To use it, navigate to an article that has bare URLs and click on the Reflinks tools to fill them in. Hi all, especially @I JethroBT and @Keilana. New Wikipedian in Residence starts next week. Also March is Women's History Month. Do you think we can push one or more of the articles on women to GA status? The Mary Ann Bickerdyke article is a good candidate.
@TeriEmbrey and Keilana: Sorry about the very delayed response here, but neither of us were pinged on this one; notifications (unfortunately) don't go through unless you sign your name at the end of a comment. Bickerdyke has potential for a GA, I think, but it needs some work in its legacy section. I tried to see if I could at least find the lyrics for this song. I didn't have much luck though. There was a song called, The Girl Behind the Man Behind the Gun. This song was apparently written by a Canadian and very popular there. I also found there was a play titled, The Girl Behind the Gun. It was very popular in the United States and abroad.
Does anyone know some information on this song request, so I might have better luck researching? PMML has the sheet music, but it has not been catalogued yet. I'll check later (might eb a while with the holiday though) to see if the song is from the play as follies and plays often released there sheet music as separate publications. It is actually the sheet music for Some Day Waiting Will End from "the new musical play" entitled The Girl Behind the Gun with book and lyrics by Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse. Currently, The Girl Behind the Gun redirects to Kissing Time, which is the name of the expanded British production. One of the other songs in the play is The Girl Behind the Man Behind the Gun. This article is tagged as being part of this project, and I AfDed it because there were no sourcees to meet GNG. Since that time, we have found sources, but they;re not independent sources, and thus still don't meet GNG. Is anyone aware of materials we could use from this collection that might help solve the impasse?
