Verkhneuralsky District (Russian: Верхнеура́льский райо́н) is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-seven in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia.^[1] It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 3,510 square kilometers (1,360 sq mi).^[2] Its administrative center is the town of Verkhneuralsk.^[1] Population: 36,198 (2010 Census);^[3] 42,121 (2002 Census);^[6] 44,470 (1989 Soviet census).^[7] The population of Verkhneuralsk accounts for 26.1% of the district's total population.^[3]
