ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:54, 18 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Ottoman archives

Some tax records for the Ottoman era for Lebanon are on archive.org, see Kherbet_Rouha#Ottoman_era. They should be "mined" (by some Arabic reader), cheers, Huldra (talk) 23:08, 19 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Villages in Syria

Hello, I notice you have wrote a lot of detailed information about some villages in Syria. I was wondering if this is because you have local knowledge or if there is some source you are using. For example, on this page Kafr al-Luhuf you say that it has a Bedouin minority but without a source. I am asking because I am interested in whether this information is reliable.

Thanks Mzrvtfni (talk) 17:40, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I do have local knowledge of the area and can say that information about villages such as Kafr al-Luhuf is usually based on a combination of local knowledge and different published sources. In the case of Kafr al-Luhuf, the description of a Sunni Bedouin minority is consistent with what is known locally about several villages in the Suwayda region, where Druze communities have historically lived alongside smaller Bedouin populations. Syrian91 (talk) 20:10, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Well, many villages in the region have Bedouin minorities, but are you sure that Kafr al-Luhuf is one of them? This seems like something an AI would say.
You are the one who wrote that part of the article, so can you say, was it based on your personal knowledge, or is there a specific published source you used? Mzrvtfni (talk) 16:38, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
According to this database: https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataset.xhtml?persistentId=doi:10.7910/DVN/YQQ07L
There are no Sunnis in that town. Mzrvtfni (talk) 16:49, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
