Hello Mudwater,
I noticed you reverted my recent revert edit to the Jefferson Airplane page, changing the year back to 1974 from 1984. While you are correct about the transition from Jefferson Airplane to Jefferson Starship happening in 1974, this specific section of the article, labeled "Reunions and other performances, 1989–present," is dealing with the events that led to the 1989 Jefferson Airplane reunion. The sentence in question is referring to the change from Jefferson Starship to Starship, which began in 1984 when Paul Kantner left the band. This led to the KBC Band and so on until the JA reunion happened. As such, I think it should be changed back to 1984. Your thoughts? Regards, AbleGus (talk) 03:11, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20240426031100","author":"AbleGus","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-AbleGus-20240426031100-Jefferson_Airplane_Edit","replies":["c-Mudwater-20240426105800-AbleGus-20240426031100"]}}-->

OK, so I updated the links for Dallas & Texas on Dave's Picks 43, the state of New York on Dave's Picks 12 and the city of New York on Dave's Picks 14 because they are all first time mentions of these locations within this segment of the page and you go back and undo them....WTF!!!! My edits were all in line with all of the following Dave's Picks: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 15, 16, 19, 20, 23, 26, 27, 28, 32, 34 and 41 - whereby both the city and the state are separately linked the first time both are listed within this segment. So what makes my edits wrong when all of the others aren't?????
You contradict yourself MUDWATER and then you hide behind fuckwad editing rules when those editing rules ARE NOT CONSISTENTLY FOLLOWED THROUGHOUT THIS ARTICLE.

Hello. Yes, you're right -- those other entries are also wrong. As MOS:GEOLINK says, the city and state together should have one link going to the article for the city, and not separate links for the city and state. I have fixed the other links in the Dave's Picks section of the article, here. However, a lot of the links from the other live album sections are still incorrect. I might fix those too. — Mudwater (Talk)15:20, 21 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20240721152000","author":"Mudwater","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Mudwater-20240721152000-2600:1702:5840:30D0:0:0:0:40-20240721012600","replies":[]}}-->
Howdy Mudwater. I was just curious as to your assessment on why the Bear's Sonic Journal Big Brother Carousel Ballroom show isn't a Bear's Sonic Journal, even if it the attached press release identifies the release as such (they specifically identify it as the first one in the series, in fact), and the fact that it literally says "Bear's Sonic Journals" on the cover of the album.
Your point about it not being directly released by the Owsley Stanley Foundation is perhaps valid, but this album was being made and directly oversaw by Stanley himself, set to be released through Columbia & Legacy. Then Stanley died in a car accident. The mostly-finished product is then finished, overseen by his wife Rhoney and son Starfinder, and released with Columbia & Legacy, as per contract. Then, they make the Owsley Stanley Foundation, and continue the series.
It's publicly stated to be a Bear's Sonic Journal, the Owsley Stanley Foundation was not an entity when it was produced, and it says so on the cover.
For these reasons, i'm putting it back.

Hi Mudwater,
I’m a professional bluegrass musician with a body of work that includes a forthcoming album release (featuring several notable musicians who have extant articles), collaborations with established artists, and media coverage in various outlets. I believe I meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines and would like to request the creation of a Wikipedia page to document my career thus far. Any help or suggestions you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Here are some reliable sources that cover my work:

@Maxwareham: Hello. Your question is very reasonable, but I'm kind of drawing a blank, so to speak. If you try to create it yourself following the instructions at Wikipedia:Articles for creation, you are not likely to get a good reception, because creating an article about yourself would be considered a conflict of interest. And on top of that, they tend to have a big backlog there, for reviewing articles. Do note the scam warning on that page, by the way. Yes, it's a bit of a conundrum. That said, I guess you could ask about this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Musicians. The people watching that page might have some advice or opinions on this. — Mudwater (Talk)01:57, 17 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20241017015700","author":"Mudwater","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Mudwater-20241017015700-Maxwareham-20241011164600","replies":["c-73.4.221.150-20241022171900-Mudwater-20241017015700"]}}-->

Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.
You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.
The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .
Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Hello,
I recently invited you to take a survey about administration on Wikipedia. If you haven’t yet had a chance, there is still time to participate– we’d truly appreciate your feedback. The survey is anonymous and should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement.
Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

Hi! Just wanted to ask if there's a specific reason you're moving the full bowl game names (with sponsor) to the end of the first lead paragraph. Personally, I don't think it represents an improvement and I don't think Wikipedia necessarily owes it to the sponsors to link their article and describe them. To my knowledge, I was the first editor to use the "end of the paragraph" format but I have since realized that the "first sentence" format is much more common on WP, especially among other sports, and I think it looks a lot cleaner. Just curious to hear your thoughts! PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 23:49, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20241217234900","author":"PCN02WPS","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-PCN02WPS-20241217234900-Bowl_game_sponsorship","replies":["c-Mudwater-20241218000000-PCN02WPS-20241217234900"]}}-->
@PCN02WPS: Hello. Thanks for the note. I'm thinking that some readers will want a link to the naming sponsor, so they can learn more about the company, or at least find out what it is. That's why the links are appropriate. Also, I think the lead sentence is better off without mentioning the title sponsor. It's clearer and more direct that way. In my opinion, the title sponsorship should be explained in the lead, but at the end of the first paragraph is a good place for it. Note also that that format was widely used in previous years. Yes, this is the best approach, I think! If you don't agree, I'd be open to further discussion, perhaps on a page where other editors are more likely to notice and join in. — Mudwater (Talk)00:00, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20241218000000","author":"Mudwater","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Mudwater-20241218000000-PCN02WPS-20241217234900","replies":["c-PCN02WPS-20241218002100-Mudwater-20241218000000"]}}-->
I'm not super upset about it one way or the other and I certainly didn't want to just revert you, just wanted to ask! That was my original reasoning when I added the full name with sponsor to the end of the first paragraph for the first time, so I definitely get your reasoning even if I've changed my mind. @PCN02WPS: What you're saying makes sense, and I'd say there's not a clear right or wrong way to do it. But I do think that the sentence at the end of the paragraph, with a link if the sponsor has an article, is the best approach. If I find the time I'd like to change more current bowl game articles to that format. But if you prefer, we could continue this discussion at Talk:2024–25 NCAA football bowl games, and see what other editors think. — Mudwater (Talk)11:43, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"20241218114300","author":"Mudwater","type":"comment","level":4,"id":"c-Mudwater-20241218114300-PCN02WPS-20241218002100","replies":["c-PCN02WPS-20241218183100-Mudwater-20241218114300"]}}-->
I think WT:CFB would be the better venue since not a lot of people will likely be watching the article's talk specifically.
