Saw your revert on the non-English source, it's a whole nest of trouble on the talk page, much like the Bujunkan one but with 6 months or stale debates... Huwmanbeing has added a few help full bits but its the same old arguments JJL is ranting about RS, (saying only his are) and Manacpowers is ranting in general, though he seems to have cooled after his months break, just thought I should warn you when the protection lifts it may be a storm again. --Nate1481(t/c) 10:21, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-07-28T10:21:00.000Z","author":"Nate1481","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Nate1481-2008-07-28T10:21:00.000Z-Nate1481-2008-01-15T10:34:00.000Z","replies":["c-Nate1481-2008-07-29T08:31:00.000Z-Nate1481-2008-07-28T10:21:00.000Z"]}}-->

There's a photo on the Jesse Owens bio page (the famous one of him on the medal podium with the silver medalist giving a Nazi salute) that ought to be put on the Jigoro Kano bio page under the IOC chapter. Kano is in the photo, he's the man in the background holding a top hat, seen between Owens and the Japanese bronze medalist. I'd add it myself, but I don't have the foggiest idea how. :-P
Thanks!

Howdy Bradford44, good job on the house cleaning. As those incremental changes come in that seem "almost there", you hope that the user isn't quite done. Your note on the samurai page states: This article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this article by adding reliable references. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. (April 2008)
I am placing material on the talk page for review, before it is incorporated in the article. this is done as a courtesy to others instead of just making the changes with no debate. A list of samurai related links was listed so that people can educate themselves before making changes to the article which contradict real history.
some "expert" on the samurai talk page introduced himself as "doctoral candidate of japanese history" with "fluency in classical japanese" then proceeded to cite Hurst's flawed 1990 articleDeath, Honor, and Loyalty: The Bushido Ideal as the basis for his arguments. This "expert" then proceeds to tell me how there was no ideal of "Bun By Ryo Do" (pen and sword in accord) in indigenous Japanese literature. If this "expert" was fluent in Japanese, why did he not know that The word Bushi (pronounced "samurai or bushi") itself is composed of the letters for Bun and Bu and signifies a balanced state. what a moron. i do not need "expert" help like this. Not only did the person not know Japanese history, he falsified his credentials!
I expect your help in eliminating these falsehoods —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.176.40.77 (talk) 05:17, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-09-16T05:17:00.000Z","author":"98.176.40.77","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-98.176.40.77-2008-09-16T05:17:00.000Z-samurai_page","replies":["c-Bradford44-2008-09-16T14:37:00.000Z-98.176.40.77-2008-09-16T05:17:00.000Z","c-98.176.40.77-2008-09-17T18:09:00.000Z-98.176.40.77-2008-09-16T05:17:00.000Z"]}}-->
Then you're going to be awfully disappointed. As I have already stated, I have no interest whatsoever in your dispute with other editors or in what you add to the article, I'm only interested in maintaining some semblance of order on behalf of WP:WPMA. Again, there is no need to debate a topic in which no one else is participating. If your material is referenced, you may incorporate it into the article at will, as long as each of your assertions is footnoted to the references section. See WP:CITE for more information. There is no debate now that i have posted some great introductory sources for people to read. When i first came to wikipedia, Sepukku was defined as "a rare and shameful act which caused the person to lose their estate and people had to be forced to do it kicking and screaming", which is the opposite of the truth. Ronin was defined as "someone who had foresaken honor and failed to commit seppuku". samurai page had some bizarre section claiming they were illiterate until the tokugawa era when in fact they had a well developed university system and used temples as learning centers. Literacy was higher in Japan than in Europe by the time of the Tokugawa era. It is even weirder to have 3 historians with known reputations claiming that the warriors emphasis on death was created in the 1600's when you can read texts 500 years before that stressing duty, honor and death (recklessly even). Hurst lied and got caught. The only way these people's arguments work is to omit large portions ofr well known written documents. We can reduce vandalism and make the article neat and orderly by documenting the good material and exposing the bad. Debate on that page is reduced because people can now read it for themselves. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.176.40.77 (talk) 18:09, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-09-17T18:09:00.000Z","author":"98.176.40.77","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-98.176.40.77-2008-09-17T18:09:00.000Z-98.176.40.77-2008-09-16T05:17:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->

Some time ago you demoted the Oom Yung Doe article to a "C" class from a "B" class and indicated that the major issue was the article's references. I am fairly new here at Wikipedia, and particularly new in the WPMA group. I am writing to request some specific advice and/or mentoring with regard to improving the references.
I am somewhat familiar with the general WP reference criteria, but am not exactly certain as to how that may be applied to articles in WPMA. For example, I have seen other editors write that the standards in WPMA are somewhat lower. While I don't have any problems with trying to meet a higher standard, I think I do need some advice as to how the WPMA referencing tradition works, as compared to WP in general and how that would impact the Oom Yung Doe article specifically. For example, there are some questions about whether a self published book could be used as a reference as well as the official www.oomyungdoe.com website. I also know that youtube videos are another no-no, but since I've seen them so much in other articles, I don't know if they should just be completely eliminated or not.
The short of it is that I would like some advice about how I could fix the references. Hopefully you would be willing to mentor me a bit on that. On the other hand, if that won't be possible, could you please recommend me to someone who might be able to help?

Your reply was very helpful. You mentioned in your reply that you didn't single the article out for class demotion. That is fine, and I certainly don't feel the article has been unfairly demoted. I will remove the youtubes and add some pictures. You mentioned "primary sources" I assume by that you mean using the materials provided by the schools themselves rather than books, media, etc. Unfortunately for our encyclopedic purposes (but perhaps rightfully so) almost all the PR that OYD has received has been surrounding its "colorful" history. Which makes your comment that "...the article lacks a lot of content relating to details on the substance of the style..." somewhat difficult to address, even if you are correct.
A few questions:
Any comments on "self-published" sources? I am familiar with a self-published book about OYD (not published by myself) that has a lot of details. Should I use it or not?
There are a lot of companies associated with OYD that sell their "herbal" products. Should those go in the references section or the "external links" section?
Should I try to add an info boxes in? OYD is really somewhere between a martial art and, according to some, a cult. So should its info box look more like this: aikido [1] or this Scientology [2]?
I appreciate the assistance. Cjim63 (talk) 02:05, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2008-09-21T02:05:00.000Z","author":"Cjim63","type":"comment","level":2,"id":"c-Cjim63-2008-09-21T02:05:00.000Z-Cjim63-2008-09-20T21:07:00.000Z","replies":[]}}-->

Over the course of a semester, each subpage will shift its focus to track the unfolding curriculum(s) for classes using that casebook around the country.
It will also feature an extensive, hyperlinked "index" or "outline" to that casebook, pointing to pages, headers, or {{anchors}} in Wikipedia (example).
Individual law schools can freely adapt our casebook outlines to the idiosyncratic curriculum devised by each individual professor.
I'm encouraging law students around the country to create local chapters of the club I'm starting at my own law school, "Student WP:Hornbook Editors". Using WP:Hornbook as our headquarters, we're hoping to create a study group so inclusive that nobody will dare not join.
Contact me directly via talk page or email about coordinating a chapter of "Student WP:Hornbook Editors" at your own school.
(You don't have to start the club, or even be involved in it; just help direct me to someone who might.)
3. Introduce yourself to me. Law editors on Wikipedia are a scarce commodity. Do knock on my talk page if there's an article you'd like help on.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 16:20, 23 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]__DTELLIPSISBUTTON__{"threadItem":{"timestamp":"2015-11-23T16:20:00.000Z","author":"MediaWiki message delivery","type":"comment","level":1,"id":"c-MediaWiki_message_delivery-2015-11-23T16:20:00.000Z-ArbCom_elections_are_now_open!","replies":[]}}-->

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Crane1. Since you had some involvement with the Crane1 redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. No references since 2007. All original research. Fails WP:V. Nothing reliable found in a search today. Likely that it duplicates another article Maniwa Nen-ryū, which has its own problems.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
