Linguistic Domination is a form of domination which involves limiting or restricting another's ability to express themselves in a language. A Linguistic Submissive would be someone limited by their knowledge of a language. For example, a Linguistic Dominatrix might only teach her Linquistic Submissive how to respond affirmatively. By not teaching refusal words, such as "no", a Dom can remove a Sub's ability to exercise control in the situation. Linguistic Domination can occur in several forms. The most basic and intuitive form is limiting the teaching of a language to include only one form of expression (usually the affirmative). This is a form of domination because it prevents a Sub from being able to make a choice in how they respond. Complete Linguistic Domination does not even allow the symbolism or gestures of the negative or disapproval. Such restriction gives the Dom complete control of a Sub and everything about the Sub.

Another form of Linguistic Domination, however, can occur after a language or symbolism and gestures have already been learned. This is not a complete domination; it is an enacted domination. Enacted Linguistic Domination occurs more commonly--even occurring subconciously in our day to day experience. One example of Enacted Linguistic Domination is an individual acting as the Dom telling another (who in turn is the Sub): "Don't tell me what you want," "I don't want to hear what you have to say," or "I don't care what you want." These expressions are a form of limiting expression and while they do not involve teaching only the affirmative they do involve removing a portion of the language and limiting expression to what the Dom wants to hear. Note: Safewords which allow a Sub access to end a session provide a measure of safety and ensure that the play is consensual.

Technological domination is a form of domination which involves denying technology or technological resources to a technological submissive. This can be seen more globally in exchanges between countries denying nuclear technology or more locally in schools which restrict their attendance or access. With individuals technological domination can be seen manifested in family units where the parental units deny their children access to television, computers, cell phones, internet access, etc. The above cases are non-consensual. Consensual technological domination would enable the technological submissive, the individual being dominated, to end the play and once again have access to the technology. Consensual technological domination might manifest itself between two partners as denied access to information or resources so as to make the sub or bottom dependent upon the dom or top. Light or teasing consensual technological domination is fairly common and can be seen in day to day interactions between partners. Stricter play would involve lifestyle, or possibly permanent, choices where the technological dominant has complete control of several technologies and the technological submissive is reliant upon the dom for the information or access to those technologies.
