Hello, I am yueni, and yes, my internet nickname is all in lowercase letters intentionally. I stumbled upon Wikipedia in early 2003; however, I didn't actually have the guts to actually edit any articles until a few months later. I didn't create a user account until June 2004, though.
I started out by doing basic spelling and grammar edits. I used to be a huge grammar and spelling nazi, but have lightened up a lot, mostly because if I were to be as uptight as I was about both of them, I'd end up spending my entire life on Wikipedia rewording and rewriting articles to the detriment of real life.
As I matured as a contributor, I have started focusing on topics that I know something about. I created most of the articles on Malaysian state capitals, and am thrilled to see them grow and blossom as other more knowledgeable contributors have jumped in to add to the articles.
Major Projects
Languages in Singapore: started the article and working on cleaning it up and wikifying it.
Plot of Naruto: started the article. Now working on wikifying it and rewriting the copy-paste taken from Uzumaki Naruto.
Interests I Contribute In
My interests are many and plentiful. I am, at the moment, addicted to a variety of anime and manga. Naruto and Bleach, in particular, are the primary ones that I keep track of, and they are the ones that I primarily focus any edits in.
I am also interested in languages, though I am only completely fluent in English. I consider myself fairly fluent in Mandarin Chinese, though not as literate. This is something that I am trying to remedy. I am able to hold a conversation in simple German, and read and write the same, but that is a language that I would like to gain some level of fluency in. My Spanish understanding is limited to a very limited vocabulary and just enough phrases to make myself understood, but nothing to sneeze at. Personally, I consider Singlish a language all its own, and I am fairly proficient in it, although I daresay that new terms have started floating around since I've left Singapore.
Interests I Do Not Contribute In
I enjoy telling and reading stories; as a result, I find mythology, history and other 'story-like' subjects very interesting. However, I do not contribute to them, except for copyedits and spelling/grammar corrections. I mostly read those articles to educate myself on those topics.
