How to create a category

Let us say you have thought of a new category you want to place some articles in. To create this new category, go to one of the pages that you wish to put there, and add a category tag naming the new category to the end of the article, like this:

[[Category:Category name]]

...where in place of category name you type the actual name of the category. When you save the page, the category should appear on the bottom line of the page. If it is indeed a new category, it will turn up in red. But this does not mean there is no such category: it might exist but with a slight difference in naming. Before you create a new category, make sure it does not already exist. In a new browser window, click on Special pages in the toolbox menu on the left side of your screen. Then click on All pages. Pick Category from the Namespace dropdown menu, and then enter the name of the category. Look over the index for synonymous categories.

Once you are sure your new name is good to go: Click on the redlink, and then click on the article creation link provided in the instructions that appear on your screen.

You will need to put a parent category on the new page, and then save the page. Going forward you can put your newly named category at the bottom of pages that you wish to add your new category to. Categories with too few pages in them are usually nominated for deletion.

Clint Eastwood is an American retired actor, director, producer, singer, composer, and lyricist. He appeared in over 60 films in a career that spanned 72 years. Eastwood's breakout film role was as the Man with No Name in the Sergio Leone–directed Dollars Trilogy: A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965), and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966). In 1971, Eastwood made his directorial debut with Play Misty for Me. Also that year, he starred as San Francisco police inspector Harry Callahan in Dirty Harry. The film received critical acclaim, and spawned four more films: Magnum Force (1973), The Enforcer (1976), Sudden Impact (1983), and The Dead Pool (1988). He received the Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture for his 1992 western Unforgiven and for Million Dollar Baby in 2004. His most recent acting role was for the film Cry Macho (2021). Palm warbler

The palm warbler (Setophaga palmarum) is a small songbird in the New World warbler family, Parulidae. It breeds in the United States, Canada and Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and is also found in non-breeding populations throughout eastern North America, Central America and the Caribbean, as far south as Panama. Its habitat includes shrublands, forests, grasslands, wetlands, and human-modified environments. The species comprises two subspecies, which differ in plumage and migration patterns. The palm warbler mainly eats insects and berries and forages on the ground. Its tail bobbing is an identifying characteristic, and its song is a monotonous buzzy trill. This palm warbler of the subspecies S. p. hypochrysea, in breeding plumage, was photographed in Green-Wood Cemetery, New York City, United States.
